“The college application process presents an opportunity for personal growth, self-reflection, and self-discovery.” XLIS College Guidance Counseling is provided to support and guide students and their families as they engage in this challenging process. Official source of admission information is passed on to the students and parents so that they can be equipped with application knowledge and the necessary skills to find their good matches and the best-fit schools. Higher secondary school students have two regular lessons per week to guide the students in high school to prepare for university applications at all stages, such as how to choose a school, the requirements for admission, the application platforms and how to write personal statement, how to request and prepare other application materials such as recommendation letters and standardized examinations. University offers are awarded for each student`s uniqueness, academic excellence, service in the community of the world. They have been recognized by the spirit of humanity, sharing the responsibility of protecting the earth (and as stated in the mission of the International Baccalaureate) “help create a better and more peaceful world.” (IBO) The XLIS secondary educators feel proud to have contributed to the growth of these young people and look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in the world.
The application process requires close communication between students, parents, and university counselors (and that all parties should approach their roles with an open mind, a sense of adventure, and wisdom). However, the leading actor on the stage is always the student. He/she should be proactive in the process instead of relying on others. Moreover, please do not hesitate to contact the university counselor with questions or concerns. (Kate Yu, Kate.yu@xalis.com)

XLIS Graduation
XLIS celebrates each year as we see our students graduate and move forward into their further education.
The university guidance ounselors at XLIS partner with students to help guide them in the university admissions process. It is important to both our school and the students that each student receives to right support and guidance when it comes to selecting a university that will best fit them, and reflect the same ideas and philosophies as the students themselves.
The university application process starts when students enter into the DP program, though students wishing to start looking into the university selection process can do so from MYP5. As students begin the DP programme there is sufficient information about a student’s academic journey, their interests, and what they would like to do in the future to begin the university selection process.
