Empowering Changemakers: XLIS MYP Students Complete Transformative Community Projects
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) students at Xi’an Liangjiatan International School (XLIS) have successfully completed their Community Projects, marking a significant milestone in their educational journey. This project is designed to foster students’ sense of responsibility, encouraging them to discover their passions while contributing positively to their community. By leveraging the knowledge and skills acquired at school, students engaged in meaningful initiatives that reflect their commitment to making a difference.
The Community Project is an integral part of the MYP curriculum, aimed at empowering students to identify and address community needs through sustained inquiry, thoughtful planning, and deliberate action. It underscores the importance of personal initiative and social responsibility, enabling students to apply academic learning in real-world contexts. The project is divided into four distinct phases: Investigation, Planning, Taking Action, and Reflection.
Throughout the Community Project, XLIS students have had the opportunity to explore their interests and passions, aligning their projects with personal values and community needs. Whether organizing environmental clean-ups, creating awareness campaigns on social issues, or supporting local charities, students have demonstrated creativity, empathy, and leadership.
Moreover, the Community Project cultivates a sense of global citizenship, encouraging students to become proactive and caring members of society. By understanding and addressing community issues, they learn the importance of empathy, advocacy, and sustainable practices.
