Commitment. Respect. Positivity. Growth. These are the four core values of the interscholastic athletics program at XLIS. This year teacher-coaches have been working diligently to instill these values in all student-athletes from U9 up to U19. With a common language for student-athletes in all age groups and sports, the core values define what makes a BLUE Dragon different from the rest:
Be Committed
Lead with Respect
Unite in Positivity
Embrace Growth
With a robust sporting culture grounded in the core values, the XLIS Blue Dragons concluded the most successful interscholastic athletics season in the school’s history. In the Xi’an International Athletics Conference (XIAC), the Blue Dragons won five of the seven core sport tournaments and medaled in the other two. At the ACAMIS Green Division Volleyball Tournament, the high school teams reached new heights as they closed the gap further between themselves and the large schools of the east coast.
Throughout these successes, an emphasis on the core values, character development, and the educational nature of sports has remained at the forefront. It is only with strong values and a supporting culture that championships and sustainable success can be achieved. More importantly, however, is how these experiences will set XLIS student-athletes on the path for success in life, as they carry with them an appreciation of the core values and the lessons learned from interscholastic competition.
