Xi’an Liangjiatan International School (XLIS) was founded in 2003. It is the first IB world school in Northwestern China, fully authorized to offer all three IB programmes (PYP, MYP, and DP), and there have been ten groups of cohorts(from the old campus to the new campus) by 2022. Every XLIS high school graduate is required to complete the six subjects of the IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme) and three core subjects: the 4,000-word English Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity Action and Service within two years. In terms of academics, the IBDP, a pre-university program, has been continuously recognized internationally and can be directly transferred to freshman credits in many world-renowned institutions. At the same time, the ATL skills, practical experience, and academic challenges of high school students also show obvious advantages in the university application process, which will help them succeed in competing across world-renowned school applications. We are proud of the IBDP cohorts, they have faced and overcome many challenges in the past three years, but they have always remained positive and optimistic. We are also very proud of the impressive university acceptances they have received from world-famous schools including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, France, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea, Singapore, and Japan.
It is a source of great pride for Xi’an Liangjiatan International School that so many bright students have graduated from our institution and achieved such extraordinary success in a range of professions around the globe. Alumni of XLIS make significant contributions to society. Former students of Xi’an Liangjiatan International School will always have a place to call “home,” no matter where in the world they reside. Our alumni network comes not just from the universities where its members obtained their degrees, but also from the places in which they developed lifelong friendships.
Former members of the XLIS community, including graduates, students who transferred out before graduation, families of former students, and former staff members, are all encouraged to stay in touch, as we like hearing about how XLIS has helped their educational and professional journeys.

Jeonghyeon Park (Andy)
Yonsei University
Andy (Jeonghyeon) Park is the first XLIS student who receives an acceptance offer from Yonsei University, a SKY University in Korea. The SKY universities are the Ivy League Universities of Korea and include Seoul, Korea, and Yonsei Universities. Admission to these schools is highly competitive, and only the brightest academic students gain acceptance. Andy will read Chemical Biomolecular Engineering at Yonsei, which is a highly selective major. Many people wonder how Andy developed the international outlook. Andy said that he had been an international student for a long time and learned to adjust and love the cultures and subcultures of China. The global life was not just a short stint for Andy and his family but rather, a lifestyle. Along with the global lifestyle came the skills of adopting a learner’s mindset. He said that the Week-Without-Walls trip at XLIS, working together with his classmates to contribute and solve problems would be the cherishing moments in his heart.
We had 11 students who completed the IBDP in our class. We were all fighting the odds and doing our best. It was worth it, not only did I learn Chinese and literary devices in poems, but I learned so much more. The people on this journey inspired me to grow in every aspect of my life. I’ve often been called a critical thinker because I try to learn from every experience and person I meet. One thing I discovered through the IBDP is that people can’t fully separate emotions from their work, we’re human. We put time and effort into what we do, and we hope it goes well. When it does, we feel proud. When it doesn’t, we feel disappointed. It’s simple. But I’ve noticed people try to hide those feelings. Maybe it’s time we break that wall. My experience at XLIS has made me stronger and ready for life at the University of Nottingham, Malaysia. I now believe I can face my fears, and smile through them.

Yuhao Ma (Mark)
Unversity of Southern California
Mark was accepted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology(computer science program) and then transferred to University of Southern California. The IB Diploma Program is a rigorous two-year pre-university program and Mark, as a second language learner, demonstrated determination and grit, completing it. Mark has been a hard-working student in our Diploma Program, and he has always been a balanced learner who comes to class with his work completed and questions to ask. Throughout the two years, he maintained consistently high grades, in particular, in his higher-level mathematics learning, which was a key factor for his success in the computer science programs applications and university level learning later on.
