Child Protection at XLIS
At XLIS, we are dedicated to ensuring a safe environment where our students are fully protected from harm, whether they are on campus or participating in any school-organized off-campus events.
At Xi’an Liangjiatan International School (XLIS), child protection is a top priority to ensure the safety and well-being of every student. School plays a critical role in a child’s development, and fostering a secure and supportive environment is essential to protect them from harm, abuse, or exploitation. By prioritizing child protection, XLIS not only meets its legal obligations but also promotes an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. When children feel safe, they are able to fully engage in their learning and build strong relationships, which is foundational for their success and a lifelong passion for learning.
At XLIS, we are dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for all our students. To uphold this commitment, we have implemented comprehensive guidelines to assist staff and families in addressing issues related to student health, safety, and well-being. Our child protection practices are designed in accordance with global standards and the fundamental rights of children, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, a treaty to which China is a signatory.
At XLIS, we are fully committed to safeguarding and enhancing the well-being of every student in our care. Our approach is guided by both the Law on the Protection of Minors in the People’s Republic of China and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, ensuring that our policies meet international and national standards for child protection.

We expect every member of our diverse school community—including staff, external partners, volunteers, guests, parents, and visitors—to act with integrity and take shared responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for our students at all times. Your vigilance and support are essential in upholding these values.

At XLIS, all job applicants undergo a thorough child protection screening process. This includes police background checks, verification of references from previous employers, and signing our comprehensive Code of Conduct. All staff members at XLIS also receive mandatory annual Child Protection training to ensure they are equipped to recognise and respond to any potential risks to student safety.
By working together, we ensure that XLIS remains a secure and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
XLIS is aligned with the recommendations of the International Taskforce on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection.
CHILD SAFEGUARDING
At XLIS, the safety and wellbeing of every student are our highest priorities.
As educators, we play a vital role in protecting children and providing a secure environment where they can learn and grow. Because we work closely with students every day, we are in a unique position to notice when a child may need support. XLIS staff members have a professional and ethical responsibility to recognize signs of abuse and to ensure that students and their families receive the help and protection they need.
Capturing Moments at XLIS
At XLIS, we respect and protect the privacy of every member of our community.
To help keep all students safe, parents and staff are asked not to photograph or record children other than their own unless permission has been clearly granted. Please also avoid posting images or videos that include other students or community members on social media platforms such as WeChat, Tiktok or other platforms. Together, we can maintain a secure and respectful environment for everyone.
Using WeChat at XLIS
At XLIS, we believe that technology should empower learning, build community, and strengthen positive relationships. WeChat is a powerful communication platform, but it requires thoughtful guidance and responsible habits-especially for our students.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a focused and collaborative learning environment, students are not permitted to use WeChat or any form of social media during school hours. This policy helps ensure that students remain engaged in class discussions, attentive to their teachers, and active participants in group learning. Each student has been provided with a school-issued email account, which serves as the official and approved channel for academic communication and collaboration.
We ask all parents to support this expectation at home by reinforcing conversations about responsible device use and encouraging students to respect school guidelines. Together, we can help our students develop balance, digital discipline, and respect for the learning space-values that reflect the XLIS community both on campus and online.
