This series allows our community to connect with our alumni and learn the great work they are doing around the globe. The XLIS mission to enable confident, open-minded global citizens is evident in their lives.
Years you have studied at XLIS?
I studied at Xi’an Liangjiatan International School (XLIS) from 2020 to 2022. During this time, I was enrolled in the Middle Years Programme (MYP), which played a significant role in shaping both my academic foundation and personal development.
What brought your family to XLIS?
Coming from a background where educational opportunities were limited, I faced several challenges in accessing quality education. However, I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to study at XLIS. This opportunity was life-changing, it not only allowed me to continue my studies but also introduced me to a global learning environment that nurtured my confidence, broadened my perspective, and empowered me to dream bigger. XLIS provided the academic and emotional support and it became a crucial chapter in my journey toward becoming a change maker .
Where are you located now?
I am currently studying at Ridley College, a boarding school in Canada, where I am completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. I will be graduating in May 2025. After graduation, I plan to continue my studies at Huron University in Canada.
What are you doing now?
I graduated in May 2025, and as I begin my summer holiday, I am focusing on expanding my organization, Youngsters Appeal. I’m actively seeking volunteers, collaborations, partnerships, and new opportunities to support underprivileged girls facing period poverty to dream and achieve. Alongside this, I’m looking up for ways of supporting my family, my younger brothers in accessing quality education because I believe empowering them will create a ripple effect in transforming lives not only within our community but in the world at large.
What’s your fondest memory of XLIS?
My fondest memory at XLIS was collaborating with the Student Council, my supervisor and mentor Daun, and MYP students to support the first 100 girls for my Middle years personal project which became the foundation of the start of my organisation now called Youngsters Appeal. At the time, it was just my MYP personal project—but it marked the beginning of something truly impactful. That experience gave me a foundation for everything I’m doing today.
Please share a story on how you are still making a difference today.
Youngsters Appeal, which I started as my MYP personal project at XLIS, has now supported 830 girls with sustainable menstrual products, education and awareness. At Ridley College, I continued this mission by founding the Menstrual Equity Initiative to push for lasting change for my fellow students at school who now have free menstrual products in school washrooms. While doing so, I was still active and doing my best for my organisation as well.
I was honored to be a keynote speaker at the Changemakers Conference at Frankfurt International School in 2023, where I spoke about the loud silence surrounding period poverty and how Youngsters Appeal addresses it. That talk led to new collaborations, many of which still fuel the work we do today. Now that I have graduated, I feel more energized than ever to give my best and continue building a more equal and dignified future for all. Doing so by brainstorming, looking up for opportunities and collaboration from everywhere.
