This series allows our community to connect with our alumni and learn the great work they are doing around the globe. The XLIS mission to enable confident, open-minded global citizens is evident in their lives.
Years you have studied at XLIS?
I joined XLIS in the spring of 2020 as an M4 student and graduated in the summer of 2023.
What brought your family to XLIS/Xi’an?
Our family moved to Xi’an due to our father’s job relocation. We explored several international schools in the city and chose XLIS because of its excellent facilities and engaging curriculum.
Where are you located now?
Korea.
What are you doing now?
I’m majoring electrical engineering at a university named KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), located at Dajeon, South Korea.
What’s your fondest memory of XLIS?
I still can’t forget the memories from the 2021 Summer Camp and the Duke of Edinburgh trip to a mountain in Xi’an. Those were some of the greatest opportunities for me to connect with everyone at XLIS, regardless of age or gender. Spending days and nights together with the community allowed me to form the strongest bonds I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’m truly grateful to my school for offering such opportunities beyond just academics. These moments will forever remain lifelong memories. I hope experiences like these still happen at XLIS, and that our bond can be passed down through generations.
Please share a story on how you are still making a difference today.
As a sophomore right now, I may not be able to make a big impact on the world just yet—but I’m working toward doing so in the near future!
First, as a student at a government-run institute of science and technology, I hope to become one of the top electrical engineers in Korea and contribute to the growth and innovation of my mother country.
My fitness journey, which began in 2021, is also still ongoing. My initial goal was to build a reasonable physique and strength, especially as someone who started out weak and skinny. I’ve seen people around me get inspired by my efforts and begin challenging themselves on their own paths. Now, with the hope of motivating even more people, I’m committed to continuing this journey—one day, I aspire to become a professional natural bodybuilder. I know it sounds impossible, and maybe it is. But no matter how this journey ends, I’m certain that someone out there will be inspired, and that alone means I’ve succeeded in spreading positive energy to the world.
