Dear XLIS Community,
Welcome back to XLIS beautiful campus for a new semester! Firstly, we would like to welcome our Korean teacher Ms. Hye Jin Yeom to the Performing Arts team of the Primary School. Ms. Hye Jin holds a doctoral degree in Piano Performance from the University of Kentucky, taught by Professor Irina Voro, a famous Russian pianist. Ms. Hey Jin was once a PYP music teacher in our school, and was well-loved by her students, and we welcome her back to XLIS with open arms. Furthermore, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to the 33 new students that have joined XLIS for the new semester. Having just arrived in the ancient city of Xi’an from other countries and cities, they must have new plans for their lives here and are also looking forward to a new learning journey guided by the IB Programmes. I congratulate you on becoming the newest members of the XLIS family and wish you all the best in making new friends, achieving fruitful results in the learning of the IB Programmes and bringing new vigor and vitality to the XLIS community!
In the past year, our DP graduates of 2022 had a 100% acceptance rate to world-class universities and achieved excellent academic results (including a perfect score) on the Global IB DP exam. Our school was successfully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) and has become a member school in China. XLIS has become one representative international school among the Top 100 in the Forbes China International School Annual Selection in 2022 and was awarded the Best Organizational Unit in the COP15 Model United Nations Environment Assembly and the 13th “Outlook of China” Youth Education Drama National Demonstration School. In addition, XLIS was given the title of “Municipal Healthy School Establishment Unit” by Xi ‘an Education Bureau. These honors were the result of the joint efforts of all our community members and marked that XLIS’ education and teaching work has been highly recognized by both the international and domestic society.
This year, as the capital city of Shaanxi province, Xi’an will comprehensively build an inland reform and opening-up highland. With the fully opening of the border, international educational exchange and cooperation will also create more opportunities. Every colleague and I will always adhere to the student-centered and community-driven approach and lead education through innovation. We will focus on students with different language levels to enhance their language learning ability; Strengthen the joint teaching research and professional development of teachers in ECE, PYP, MYP and DP, strengthen lesson preparation and classroom teaching guidance to improve the connection and quality evaluation of the 15-year consistent international diploma curriculum; Effectively use the data of students’ academic level, physical and psychological status and social behavior to support various educational and teaching decisions and innovations; Through face-to-face education consultation between principals and parents, parent workshops of all grades, family education sharing and other ways, we can further improve the joint force of home-school education. At the same time, we will also expand the opening and exchange of education to the outside world, continue to carry out academic and cultural exchanges with young people around the world, and carry out international youth action for global sustainable development and other activities, and continue to promote students to become global citizens who are self-reliant and open-minded.
The scientific laws revealed by countless educational case studies show that adults have an unlimited influence on the growth of the young generation, which will have incalculable positive or negative effects throughout their lives, and the younger the children are, the stronger their trust, imitation, expectation and dependence on adults. Here, I appeal to all XLIS’ teachers and parents, let’s commit ourselves to creating a common home for Liangjiatan International Education, sparing no effort for the healthy growth of each child and teenager in our school and helping all students to learn and grow for the benefit of humanity and the world.
