Dear Parents,
Happy Year of the Rabbit!
We are very excited and happy to be starting the second semester of the 2022 – 2023 academic year at XLIS! First, I would like to extend a big welcome to our new students and their families! I enjoyed getting to meet each one of our 25 new PYP students as they arrived on Monday and was delighted to see how happy and comfortable they seemed to be starting their new journey at our school. I hope they make many new friends and settle in quickly!

Parent Workshops
At XLIS, we place a high value on the voices of our community members. We have organized our Parent Workshops in response to suggestions given by our parent community. Our teachers have volunteered their time to create engaging and informative hour-long sessions to help parents deepen their understanding of several different aspects of school life at XLIS. Unfortunately, attendance at these workshops has been low. We have Chinese and Korean translation available, so please do not be shy to come and learn more about our school or helpful strategies you can learn to use at home with your child.
Setting Goals for Second Semester
The start of a new semester is an exciting time! There is much to look forward to, but it is also a perfect time for reflection! It is excellent practice for students to think about their learning and identify what they feel really confident and capable of doing. What do they enjoy at school? What do they feel they do really well? It is also important for them to identify areas they feel they can improve in and to set goals for themselves! I highly encourage you to sit with your child for a reflection time (even our Early Years students can do this!) Have your child think about what they are great at and what they would like to work on for Semester 2. Thinking about learning will help them keep focus in the semester ahead.
