Dear Parents,
Good morning!
What a wonderful week at XLIS last week, with the Mental Health Awareness activities, Digital Detox action, and finishing off with Sports Day. Each of these activities was important for our community in its own way, and I hope that you and your children had meaningful conversations and were able to spend time connecting with one another. A feedback survey for the Digital Detox week has been sent to all parents, so please take the time to complete it, as it will provide us with valuable insight about future initiatives. I hope that you can see how these kinds of activities relate to our schoolwide vision of being a not-for-profit school that leads education through innovation and a student-centered, community-driven approach.
As part of Mental Health Week, we had an art competition! There were so many amazing submissions, reflecting students’ feelings (internal weather) and ‘happy places’.
Here are the winners:
1. The Storyteller Award goes to P5C Hiba: For the artwork that tells the most powerful story through the reflection slip and the symbols on the page.
2. The Bravery in Color Award goes to P2B Candice: For the student who used colors and textures most effectively to show their “Internal Weather.”
3. The Sanctuary Award goes to P1A Gohan: For the most creative and imaginative “Happy Place” that feels truly unique to the student.
4. The Family Collaboration Award goes to P2B Ji – o: For the entry that shows the most meaningful connection or conversation between the student and their family.
5. The “Heart & Soul” Prize (Overall Winner) goes to P5C Ella: For the student who showed the most effort, sincerity, and creativity across the board.
In addition, each year group had an overall winner. Those winners are:
P1 – P1B Minnie
P2 – P2A Yoanna
P3 – P3A Emily
P4 – P4B Abby
P5 – P5A Adrianna
P6 – P6C Israel
Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you to all who submitted some artwork!
Next week (April 4 – April 12), we will observe the Easter and Tomb Sweeping Festival holiday. Once we return, we will be in our final 10 weeks of this school year. The time is passing quickly! The P6 students will be busy preparing for their upcoming PYP Exhibition in April, and we will start our WIDA testing to check the progress our EAL students have made on their English skills development. There is much to look forward to, and I am sure the weeks will pass by quickly!
Please remember to reach out to me at any time with questions, celebrations, or concerns. I am always available to our parent community!
Have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
