Dear Parents,
We are already nearing the end of April-the next month will be a very busy one with exams, Week Without Walls, Work Experience. It has been a very hectic beginning of the term and we have some concerns about the following:
M1 use of devices- when we agreed to have M1 students bring in their devices, it was made very clear that they should not make use of these devices during break and lunch time and that they can only use it when asked by teachers. There have been several breaches of this rule and I have had laptops brought to me by teachers after several warnings. We want our students to act responsibly right from an early age and if they continue to breach the rule, the laptops will be kept in my office until I meet with the parents. We need your support on this matter.
Attendance: This is just a reminder that parents should send a note to the homeroom teachers copied to me in case of absence-if is longer than a day, we need a medical note. I thank all parents who are following this procedure.
Week Without Walls: As communicated earlier, the date for this event is now 27th May to 31st May. This event will involve all grade levels except the DP 1 students. Our DP1 students will sit for their mocks in that week. Their retreat is planned for the beginning of the next academic year.
DP 2 students are starting their exams tomorrow and will be busy till the end of May. We wish them the very best of luck. We ask parents to ensure that the students have a good sleep and have some time to relax in between exams as this period is very stressful for them.
Our M5 students will sit for their finals from 6th May -17th May. During these exams students will have classes which will be mostly spent in reviewing if need be. There are no exams in Music, Visual Arts, PHE and Design so they have plenty of time to review while on campus. One area where our students are facing a challenge is time management during the exam- I have advised them to keep practicing on their own and time themselves. Practice makes perfect.
I would like to thank all parents especially those who have always attended our workshops. The success of any student is the collaboration between school and home. Once we work towards reinforcing the communication, there will be an improvement in performance..
Thank you for your continuous support.
Sincerely,
Jaimala Quinlan
