Dear Parents,
We are now in November-this month is going to be a very busy one with parents’ meetings and preparations for the Xmas concert. We started the week with a very meaningful IB workshop on Inclusion which is at the heart of our teaching and learning.
I would like to remind you of the following events that will take place this month. I have already mentioned these in my last letter, but I just want to send a kind reminder so that we can see as many parents as possible.
Wednesday 15th November from 9:00-10:30am: Roundtable meeting with M3 parents where teachers and coordinators and the school counsellor will address any queries you might have regarding the choices for your students in M4.
Friday 24th November: 3:45-4:30pm: Parents and students meet to discuss subjects with the teachers and make their choices for M4.
Wednesday 22nd November: 8:30-9:30am: M4 parents meet the teacher panel for a round table discussion about universities. Our M4 students will choose between the Art subjects for next academic year.
Wednesday 29th November: 9:00-10:30am: M5 parents meet our teachers for discussion of choices of subjects and possible universities choices. The subject choices evening will take place on the 1st December for our M5 students.
I hope to see as many parents as possible so that we can clarify all your doubts about the value of the IB and the range of possibilities that this programme offers us compared to others.
Attendance: This issue has been a common recurrence among certain students. We would like to remind students and parents that attendance is crucial to the success of the students. Regular absences will only hurt the students and they will not be able to give their full potential in completing the work that they miss. Please ensure that a note is sent for every absence and if the absences are over 2 days or more, we need a medical certificate. Thank you for understanding.
Uniform: The weather is getting cold and I can see that students are starting to wear different sweaters to come to school. Please ensure that your students have warm clothes underneath their uniform and that they buy the new hoody that the school has ordered for winter.
As usual I remain at your disposal for any queries or suggestions you might have for the Secondary department.
Sincerely
Jaimala Quinlan
Secondary Principal
