Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that Friday will be December 1st! We are currently in the long stretch between holidays. These 11 weeks between the October holiday and Christmas are important for learning, however, they can also be very tiring. This is the time we must check-in with our children to see how they are feeling, how is it going at school, and to see how they are handling things. It is during this time that I will receive more reports of students being unkind to one another and more incidents of conflict between children as they become more and more ready for a break.
To this email today, I am attaching our Restorative Practices Policy again.
I know I have shared it before, but I truly believe in the process of restoring relationships between children. It’s important to understand that navigating through conflict is a learning experience. With the Restorative Practice Policy, the hope is that once the restorative conversation has occurred, the behavior will stop and the children involved will learn how to better interact with one another. We will continue working with all children at XLIS to ensure it is a caring, positive, and safe place to learn for everyone.
In addition, I am sharing our poster for the “20 Years of Joyful Jingles” Christmas Celebration that is on the horizon. In the time leading up to this event, we are encouraging our parent community to get involved as well. You may contribute to the decorating of the school, participate in the Christmas Market on the concert day or sing with us in the final song. As you know, at XLIS, our mission and vision statements both include the word “community”. These events are one way we strive to strengthen our community connections. I hope I will see you there!
As always, I would love to hear from you! You may email me (marly.song@xalis.com) or send me a message through WeChat (principal_marly).
Have a lovely day,
Marly
