Dear Parents,
Hello XLIS community! Today is officially the first day of the Spring Equinox, and for many countries in the world, it is Nowruz, their New Year! So Happy Spring and Happy New Year!
Our second semester is now well underway, and we have continued to keep true to our vision of leading education through innovation and a student-centered, community-driven approach. Such innovations this year have been our International Day of Peace celebration, our recent whole school Science Fair, and coming up next week – our XLIS Sports Day!
In today’s email, I would like to focus on our Primary Sports Day event which is on Friday, March 31st. Over the years, we have had a track-and-field event for our primary students, but through the pandemic, we faced many challenges to create it the way we had hoped. This year, we are innovating again! We hope to raise the school spirit of our students, create friendly competition, and involve our parents and the wider community.
The Primary Sports Day will begin at 8:30 am and run until 12:30 pm. All of our students have been divided into 4 colour teams – red, green, purple, and yellow. We will inform our students of their colour this week and encourage them to wear their team colour for the events on Friday, March 31st. We have placed siblings onto the same colour team, so parents can also wear their children’s team colour for support!
Parents will be invited to participate in the event, especially for our Early Years, the events include parent participation! We hope that you will join us! Our PR will send a poster and registration link for the event in the next few days, so please keep an eye on your emails.
Finally, we would also ask that parents help to decorate our stands outside with the team decorations. Students will make a team banner and some other decorations, and each team will have a section in the stands. We would love for our parent community to help decorate the stands to represent the teams. The team that has the best decorations and spirit will win the “Spirit Cup”! We hope that this event will bring lots of competition, joy and laughter to our XLIS community.
More information will be coming soon!
Please email me at any time with how things are going or questions you may have about your child’s school life.
Sincerely,
Marly Song
