Dear Parents,
I hope this email finds you and your families well as we bid farewell to the 2023-2024 academic year and look ahead to the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
I am delighted to share that the recent IBAP workshops hosted at XLIS were an overwhelming success. We received tremendous positive feedback from the 263 workshop leaders and participants from China, the US, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and other countries and regions.
As we approach the end of the 2023-2024 academic year, I would like to highlight a few key initiatives that will be our focus:
- The second-semester reports
The second-semester report will be issued on June 21st, with grades and teachers’ comments. Please note to check the reports through ManageBac timely. If you have any questions related to student’s performance, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s homeroom or subject teachers.
- MYP/DP Arts and Design Showcase
From June 11th to June 14th, we are hosting our first-ever MYP and DP Arts and Design Showcase at XLIS. The powerful performance and the works on display here this week represent the culmination of countless hours of dedication, experimentation, and the joy of artistic expression. You are encouraged to immerse yourselves in the powerful performances and captivating works created by our talented students. Allow yourselves to be moved, inspired, and captivated by their brilliance and creativity.
- Summer Camp on Campus
Two sessions of our summer camp will be offered catering to students aged 3 to 15. Session 1 will take place from June 24th to June 29th, and Session 2 will be held from July 8th to July 13th. The camp will include a variety of activities, such as Chinese culture, English drama, STEAM, English literacy and reading, and sports. I would also like to share a few important notes:
- Parents Community Day
All parents are invited to our Parents Community Day on August 15th, 2024. For Primary parents, the session will be from 13:00-14:00, and for Secondary parents, the session will be from 14:00-15:00, both held at the Blue Dragon Theater. This event will be an excellent opportunity for you to connect with other families, meet our faculty and staff, and learn more about our exciting plans and checklists for the new academic year. Please note that starting from this day, there will be no more physical parent cards, and all access and identification will be handled through the XLIS app. The detailed email will be sent out by the PR department before the summer holiday. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact PR at pr@xalis.com
- Summer Holiday
The summer holiday will be from June 22nd to August 18th, 2024. This gives students and families a good amount of time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the summer months. It’s great that you’re encouraging your child to maintain a healthy lifestyle during the break. Reasonable schedules and limiting daily electronic device usage are excellent recommendations. Staying active, getting plenty of sleep, and spending quality time with family are all so important for student well-being.
