Dear Parents,
I want to extend a big thank you to all the parents who turned up for the workshops last week. It was a success, and the parents who were present could have first-hand information about how the school operates and how the MYP works.
Communication is crucial to the success of any career or organization: Communication between you and your children will ensure a smooth transition of your children through the years of Secondary school. They will feel that you are all together, walking hand in hand to the exit, which is the Diploma Programme. Communication between parents and school enables us to address misconceptions that you may have concerning further studies and the requirements of the programme. We trust that there will be regular communication between our community, parents, and school.
“ At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents.” Jane D. Hull.
Soon, on the 21st of September, we will celebrate the UN International Peace Day. This year, we want our Secondary students to become more conscious of the concept of Peace and realize that this is what the world needs now. Homeroom teachers have started addressing this issue in class. Still, it would also be good to see parents talk to their children about the importance of Peace and how not everyone is lucky to have a world where everything is peaceful. As M. Alex Rambaud mentioned in his message to parents, we will tap into our students’ talents in giving speeches, in Art and in performance. We are working towards making this day a successful one.
Attendance: We have noticed that some students are regularly away from school- As I mentioned during the meeting, if your child is away for more than 2 days, we need a medical note.
Uniform: Several students have been coming to school wearing the wrong shirt or pants and with decorated nails. Please read the Dress Code policy I sent to all parents in my first email and support us in ensuring that students abide by the XLIS dress code. Thank you.
We will start important activities from this month onwards: M5 students have begun thinking about their Personal projects. Please take some time to talk to your children about what they intend to do and why and how they will make a change. This initial conversation is crucial to the success of this important culminating project of the MYP.
I am attaching the PDF of the video that Ms. Emma shared with the M5 parents per your request. I am also including the MYP Handbook and the Personal handbook for your perusal.
As always, I am open to all suggestions and queries. Please email me at jaimala.quinlan@xalis.com should you need to.
Sincerely
Jaimala Quinlan
Secondary Principal
