Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of another year at XLIS. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support you have given me and our school this past year. I am so happy that the word community is found in both our vision and mission. I believe we are partners, you, our students, and staff are all partners on the same mission.
Honoring Leaving Leaders
It is a sad end of year as we say goodbye to our secondary principal Ms. Quinlan. She has served our students for eight years now. I have learned so much from her over the years in particular over the past two years as she has educated me about the MYP. We also say goodbye to Ms. Zialcita our PYP coordinator. She has been serving our school for ten years also and has led the team to transform our primary school into what it is today. She started with 9 classes and is leaving 19 classes. I am sure Ms. Quinlan (jaimala.quinlan@xalis.com) or Ms. Zialcita (maria.zialcita@xalis.com) would love to hear from you before they leave.
Fortunately staff turnover is very low again this year at 6.2%. We wish all our leaving staff the best and look forward to welcoming twelve new staff members in August. Our leadership team has already begun strategic planning to further our mission next year.
Arts Showcase
The Arts has and will always be a central part of our school. Visual and Performing arts are currently available in all three of our programs. From the 11-14th of June, our secondary school is planning to showcase our drama program, design initiatives, visual arts masterpieces and performing arts initiatives. Please see the flyer attached for more information. By providing a balanced curriculum at XLIS, we hope students will have opportunities to meet their passions and develop skills that will last a lifetime.
End of Year
I believe this will be my last message this year and as I said at the start of the message, thank you for joining us on our mission. It may be for only a year or two or it may be from PYP to DP, like some of our recent graduates. Please keep in touch and let me know if there are any ways I can improve the content of my monthly letters next year.
Sincerely,
Brian Lalor
Deputy Head of School
