Collaboration within and between other schools is at the heart of what we do as an IB World School. This year, we had the privilege of collaborating with Sias International School in Zhengzhou for our Exhibition. The collaboration established strong partnerships between our schools and aligned with the International Baccalaureate’s philosophy of promoting and fostering cross-cultural interactions among students and teachers. The opportunity allowed us to engage in meaningful learning experiences through participation in the Exhibition and team-building activities.
The collaboration is a milestone for the primary as it is the first time we have visited another school outside Xi’an. Organizing the events took a few weeks, and everything went smoothly. It was a remarkable undertaking and truly represents the IB spirit of collaboration. Everyone showed commitment and focused on making the event meaningful for students and teachers.
Sias IS first visited XLIS on April 23-25. The Sias IS students and teachers had a school tour and visited all P6 classes, where the students and teachers had a ‘’getting to know you’’ activity and briefing about the Exhibition. During the Exhibition, the Sias IS students and teachers watched all the presentations in the morning and visited and interacted with P6 students during the Exhibits in the afternoon. It was wonderful to see the interactions between the students, teachers and the leadership team as we focused on sharing ideas and strategies on the process of the Exhibition. The Sias IS students had the opportunity to engage with our P6 students by asking questions and engaging in the activities during the Exhibits.
In turn, XLIS traveled to Zhengzhou to participate in the Sias IS Grade 5 Exhibition on May 6-8. It was an exciting time for our students and teachers, and we look forward to participating in the Grade 5 Exhibition. The Exhibition proved to be a meaningful experience for our students and teachers. We were fascinated by the topics presented, such as Stray Animals, Coral Reef, and AI, to name a few. Our students interacted with their counterparts, visited all the booths, asked questions, and answered questions during the game activity. We were proud to see our students providing feedback through their reflection.
During the visit, our students engaged in various activities such as games in the gym and the classroom, banner making, writing reflections, and entertainment. We had the opportunity to visit a beautiful park and a landmark in Zhengzhou, located in the center of the city. The collaboration between the two schools strengthens our partnership as we strive to learn best practices and innovation and foster cross-cultural understanding.
Special thanks to Ms. Julia, the P6 Team, and the chaperones. We also express our sincere appreciation to the Sias IS Team for their warm welcome and excellent collaboration.
