XLIS’ Extra Curricular Activities(ECAs)Semester 1, 2022-2023
XLIS has completed the first semester of Extra Curricular Activities of the 2022-2023 Academic year! To promote the continuous development of our students’ physical attributes, artistic understanding, and academic knowledge, XLIS offered 40 ECA courses during this semester. Our students chose their activities according to their interests and age group. By designing an exciting variety of ECA classes, XLIS encourages its students to discover their unique interests, and enhance their creativity.
This year, despite facing considerable challenges due to the impact of the epidemic, our school implemented its ECA program successfully, complying with all health and prevention requirements, thus keeping our students and staff safe and sound. Here is a list showcasing a variety of activities catering to the needs of the diverse student body at XLIS:
Academic Courses
Our Chinese, Korean, Mathematics, MUN, aim to cultivate and enrich our students’ academic abilities, knowledge, and communication skills.
Performing Art Courses
Our Choir, ballet, MYP band, Drums, and Chinese drama lead students to discover the exciting world of music and live performances. Through these activities, our students develop musical literacy and appreciation. Our school also provides opportunities for students to participate in school-wide performances and events pre-scheduled in our calendar.
Health and Wellness Courses
Our Sport ECAs include Swimming, Baseball, Golf , and Tennis, and encourage students to develop their physical strength, cultivate a healthy lifestyle, and take care of their mental health.
Science Courses
The Science Courses include E-sports, Robotics, and Science Experiments. These classes aim to give students a chance to construct innovative knowledge, cultivate scientific interest, and implement critical thinking.
Furthermore, innovative ECAs are often the product of our students’ voice. Thanks to our students’ suggestions, new courses such as Frisbee, Vex Robot, MYP Math Club, English ECA and Piano Class, were added this semester. The participation of students in the ECA program in our school this semester was of 75.3%, which shows a growth curve of 4% higher than last year.
Our ECA program contributes to the social and emotional growth of our students through its diversified curriculum and a strong focus on mental and physical health. In the future, we pledge to continue to be student-centered and provide students with even more innovative and exciting ECA program.
