Math Kangaroo Committee Announces
Xi’an Liangjiatan International School as the official test center in China
After much effort and preparation, Xi’an Liangjiatan International School has been officially authorized as a permanent test center for the Math Kangaroo competition in March, and the registration channel is also opened to students from outside schools.
Math Kangaroo
Math Kangaroo was initiated in 1978 by Australian mathematician Peter O’Halloran and has become the largest youth math competition in the world, with participants from elementary to high school grades. Each year, the Kangaroo Math Contest attracts over 6 million math enthusiasts from more than 92 countries. Compared with traditional math competitions, which focus on high level of difficulty and problem-solving skills, Math Kangaroo Competition emphasizes on using interesting and real-life problems to stimulate children’s interest in learning, thus cultivating students’ mathematical thinking and continuously improving their ability to read, understand, analyze and solve problems.
This year, 97 elementary school students and 49 middle school students (including middle school and high school students) participated in the Math Kangaroo Competition. Many students and parents were excited and looked forward to this competition. During the preparation process, our math teachers were devoted to supporting students and strived to provide appropriate guidance in the weeks leading up to the event.
The competition will have far-reaching significance in cultivating our students’ interest in mathematics and their spirit of exploration, stimulating students’ enthusiasm for learning through competition. We aim to serve our students better and provide a platform for students from other local schools to further promote mutual learning and communication.
May students good luck in Math Kangaroo 2022!
