1. Start of ECAs – Thursday,1st September

XLIS proudly announces the start of its exciting ECAs on September 1st, 2022! The ECA booklet and registration code have been sent to you by email. Please contact our Head of ECAs, Mr. Lee Li, at xlis.eca@xalis.com if you have any questions about the program.

 

2. Student Eye-sight Examination Day (except ECE) 

    Thursday,1st September – Friday, 2nd September

According to the needs of students’ growth and development, XLIS health center will invite Xi ‘an International Medical Center Hospital to the campus on September 1st and 2nd, 2022 to perform vision check for all students with the exception of ECE.

 

3. PTA Core Members Meeting – Monday, 5th September

The first PTA Monthly Meeting for 2022-2023 academic year schedules on September 5th, all PTA members are invited to participate, main agendas will be shared out soon within this week.

 

4. Mid-Autumn Festival 

    Saturday,10th September – Monday, 12th September

Our school’s Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday is observed from the 10th to the 12th of September, 2022. We kindly remind you there is no school during these dates. School will begin again on Tuesday the 13th of September, 2022.

 

5. U. N. International Day of Peace – Wednesday, 21st September

At XLIS we believe that bringing the community together around the concept of peace and international mindedness is an opportunity like no other! We are currently planning this meaningful event and hope to invite our parents to a half-day full of fun, cultural understanding, and the celebration of diversity!

 

Primary School Events

 

1. Assemblies – FridaysEach Friday afternoon, one class in our Primary School will take to the stage in the Blue Dragon Theatre for a celebration of their learning. These are often student-led and planned, with a focus on their current Unit of Inquiry. This month we will have the P6C assembly on September 23rd and the P6A assembly on September 30th. Parents for the presenting class will be invited to attend on that day. More information closer to the date will be made available.

 

2. Assessments in the PYP 

    Friday, 9th September – Friday, 23rd September

Three times in the school year, all students in the Primary Years Programme will be formally assessed on their writing, mathematics, and reading. The first round of assessments this year will happen this month (September 9th writing, 16th math and the 23rd reading). Early Years will assess writing, and P1 only writing and math in this round.  Once completed, teachers will then meet together to analyze the data and make plans for future teaching. Teachers will give snapshots of the students learning during the Parent-Teacher Conferences in October.

 

3. Open Day 

Parents from ECE A to P4 will be invited to join the Open Day in September according to following schedule, school Management Team will lead to do the school tour and experience the daily school life our students have on campus. Each grade parents will all have the access to the Open Day at different time, we’ll send out invitation to different year-level parents one week in advance.

Secondary School Events

 

1. ACER Tests 

Wednesday,28th September – Friday,30th September 

These are standardized tests that determine our school placement in the world. Every year the MYP students from MYP1-MYP4 sit these online exams in English and Math. This enables us to use the data to inform our teaching and learning.
