1. Staff PD and Early Release
1st March (Wednesday) was an early release day for students with buses leaving campus at 2:30. XLIS staff were leading nine different sessions for other staff members. Some of the sessions included lesson planning, inquiry cycle, behavior management and developing assessment rubrics.

4. Dormitory Fire Drill
The purpose of a dormitory fire drill is allow staff and students to who live in the dormitory to familiarize themselves with the appropriate fire evacuation procedures, and to reinforce fire evacuation routes and practices. One of the aims of a fire drill is to have the proper actions be an automatic response whenever the dormitory fire alarm sounds, and that all students and staff safely evacuate the dormitory building in an orderly and calm manner.
5. Science Fair
XLIS successfully held the very first XLIS Science fairs on March 14th, 2023. XLIS gave students an opportunity to experience science in a different way. Students were encouraged to explore their passion for scientific inquiry, pursue their own ideas to solve problems that are of interest to them, and apply the scientific method to conduct independent research.
7. Silk Road Classical Music Competition and Recital
We truly felt the power of music through the First Silk Road Music Competition at XLIS last Saturday supported by Overseas Chinese Scholars and Overseas Chinese of Shaanxi Youth Federation. Also, with great honor, we invited four accomplished returnee musicians to come to the scene, presenting a high-standard professional performances for the audience, each of whom was totally immersed in the wonderful musical atmosphere that created by piano, violin and classical singing.
8. Sleepover at XLIS
The theme of this weekend camp at Xi’an Liangjiatan International School was “How We Express Ourselves”. How We Express Ourselves” is also a transdisciplinary theme of the IB PYP. We provided students with a variety of courses including English reading, English writing, visual art, performing arts and sports, so that students could exercise various abilities in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

10. ACAMIS Jr. Swim Meet 2023
On March 23rd and 24th, Lv Yirong, Pang Jinyi and Xu Tengxu from XLIS participated for the first time in the swimming competition organized by ACAMIS at Shenzhen Foreign Language School. In the competition, our students fought hard and played well. Finally they broke through all the difficulties and got a gratifying result: Lv Yirong finished sixth in the 200-meter freestyle, ninth in the 100-meter freestyle and 10th in the 50-meter freestyle.
11. Open Day
On March 11th, we’ve invited potential ECE kids and families come to experience the IB curriculum and educational philosiphy. This is the first Open Day after the global pandemic, we are so happy to enable these little ones and theis family to access the authentic international education. We will continue to open up to welcome families who are interested to join Open Day in following months.

ECEA – PYP3
Followed the first two Parent Talk sessions in February, this month, we organized the Lower Primary Parent Talk, in total 5 excellent parent presenters signed up to share their educational thinking and practice. The interactive learning was highly recognized by all participants on spot.It’s so fortunate for us to have all these extremely supportive and open-minded parents community here at XLIS. On April 13th, we will end up this year’s Parent Talk with the last session, let’s stay tuned!
Secondary School Events
1. 2023 DP2 Visual Arts Exhibition
How do we define the uniqueness of ourselves within the context of a greater culture? What are the relationships between the individual and the society we belong to in the 21st century? Do the wants and necessities of a society overshadow the needs of the one? These are just a few of the inquiries being addressed in the 2023 Visual Arts Diploma Program Exhibition.
2. Secondary Parent Workshop (for MYP3 Parents)
This year the MYP3 students will undertake the community project which is a project based on service and action. We invited parents of MYP 3 students to attend this workshop led by our Service as Action Coordinator, Mr. Hakim. This is an opportunity for all parents to learn more about the MYP programme.

4. MYP5 Personal Project Presentation (Blue Dragon Theater)
This year as part of the Personal Project exhibition, we decided to host short presentations by every MYP5 student where they presented their project talking about their goals and challenges. This gave all parents the opportunity to hear all students and ask questions about their experience.

We are thrilled to share with you the success of the MYP Personal Project Exhibition that took place on Friday, March 24th. The exhibition showcased a variety of innovative and creative projects that our students had undertaken. These projects were a true reflection of their interests, passions, and personalities, and the students demonstrated a deep understanding of the MYP learning objectives.
