Dear Parents,
To start my letter this week, I would like to take a moment to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to our parent community for your time and support for our International Day of Peace. The event was a huge success, and it was an incredible display of how, at XLIS, we strive to “lead education through a student-centered, community-driven approach”. We could not achieve this without the support of our amazing parents! I hope that we can keep the theme of the day, “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” at the forefront throughout this school year, as we encourage our students to act with kindness at school, at home, and within the community.
I will again highlight the importance of developing good reading habits from a young age. Our first round of MAP assessments has been completed for our P2 to P6 students, and our teachers are busy analyzing the data and using it to inform their teaching. This information will be shared with parents at the end of the month.
At home, please support your child to read each night. This could be listening to you read to them, reading together, them reading to you, or reading independently. This week, I will share some recommended books for our lower primary (P2 and P3) students.
These books can be found in our library:

Lastly, we will complete our “Open Day” events this week when we welcome our P5 and P6 parents on Thursday. For the parents who have been able to attend, I hope that you have gained some valuable insight into your child’s school life. Of course, I would love to hear your feedback on your experience. What do you see as strengths at XLIS, and do you have any suggested areas where we could improve?
I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Marly Song
