Dear Parents,
Hope you are keeping warm and pay attention to the weather. Please ensure that your children are dressed appropriately for the weather.
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic participation in last week’s parent-teacher conferences! It was wonderful to connect with you, share insights about your child’s growth, and exchange valuable ideas together. We truly value the feedback from families and all stakeholders, and we will use these precious suggestions to refine the event, making future conferences even more meaningful and helpful for everyone.
Literacy and culture week (October 27-31)- This week is one of the most exciting ones in terms of the how we celebrate our reading and literacy in different subjects. The various departments are organizing some very diverse activities. Our language and literature department is running a ‘create a poem’ activity that allows teachers and students to create their own poem from words that have been taken from other articles. This is more of a collage theme.
On October 31st, students would be dressing up for Halloween. Please ensure that the costume that your child wears is school appropriate. We also have Mr. Usifu Jalloh, a story teller from Sierra Leone who will share his stories and multiculturalism with us. We are looking to use this opportunity to integrate this into our DP TOK lessons as well.
November 17th and 18th PD: These two days are non-school days as our teachers engage in Professional Development. The Secondary Team will be working in-house with sessions on Approaches to teaching and learning, integrating Theory of Knowledge (TOK) into subjects, Inter-disciplinary units (IDUs) and department requirements over this two day time period.

Week without walls-The week without walls is coming up between November 24-28. Homeroom teachers have already reached out to you for information related to your child’s health and travel items. Please review all the information that you send to the teachers carefully. Our teachers are getting ready to lead these trips to different destinations. Please be in communication with your child’s homeroom teachers if you have any concerns/information to share.
Thank you and have a great week ahead!
Regards,
Shameek
