Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2nd half of the academic year 2023-2024! I hope you had a good holiday with the family and now we are back to some very serious work till the end of the year.
This semester is particularly important, we expect students to do their best to improve their academic performance. Teachers are always there to provide feedback. Please encourage the students to approach their teachers if there are any queries. I have asked teachers to contact you if there are concerns about your child’s progress.
Our M5 students will sit for their mocks starting Thursday 11th and will end on Monday 15th of April. These exams are important as they allow the students to experience the platform for the e-assessments. All M5 students have by now completed their Personal projects and their portfolios. I am very proud of this cohort as they have shown the ability to meet deadlines: an important skill which will be an advantage for them in DP.
DP2 students have completed all IAs and are now busy reviewing for their finals which start on the 24th April. They have been given the best possible guidance from their teachers and now it is up to them to apply their knowledge to complete the exams. As Professor Cardwell said it is the application of the knowledge gained to solve problems that determines the ability of a student.
M5 work experience: Last year we started this event with our M5 students (the current DP1) and they thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity. This year we have decided to go along with the same plan. The success of last year’s endeavour was mainly due to the support of all parents who offered placements for our students to undertake their work experience. We would appreciate it if parents did the same this year. I will also contact parents through the PTA. If you are ready to offer a placement for our students, please contact my assistant Bella at bella.yang@xalis.com
We count on your support to make this a meaningful and successful event.
We know this is a very busy semester but we are always ready to welcome your suggestions or address your queries. Please contact me at jaimala.quinlan@xalis.com
Sincerely
Jaimala Quinlan
