Early Release PD
The primary school team has been busy with our curriculum updates. Our Early Years Team is reviewing the learning outcomes together, ensuring the vertical articulation from Nursery to P1 are in line with the students’ developmental growth. The Mandarin Team is reviewing the language acquisition and language and literature outcomes to reflect a skills progression that matches that of language learning. The P2 – P6 Team has been crafting new science units that will include the revised Ontario Science learning outcomes. This includes building new units of inquiry that have a science focus, starting in the 2025-2026 academic year.
The secondary learning principles identify feedback as a key factor in student learning in the division. Working on these lines, the secondary team will explore feedback from assessments, characteristics of good feedback, strategies for giving effective feedback and using feedback as a learning tool. Different departments will consider this from their perspectives, followed by sharing ideas across departments to check for best practices.
