Whole School Events
1. PTA Core Member Meeting – Tuesday, 13th June
The last monthly PTA core meeting of the second semester will be held on Tuesday, June 13th, and we will notify all PTA members by email later on.
2. End of Semester 2 – Friday, 16th June
From Saturday, June 17th to Sunday, August 13th, the school will be closed for the summer vacation. We wish you all a safe and wonderful holiday!
3. Open Day
Saturday, 3rd June
In June, we will continue to organize two Open Day events for High School and Lower Primary prospective students to know about XLIS and IB curriculum. Please kindly focus on the school official sharing of the Open Day registration to participate.
4. XLIS 2023 Summer Camp
From June 19 to July 1, XLIS will hold four summer camps with different themes for XLIS students of different ages.
Adhering to the principle of differentiated teaching, meeting the individual needs of students and attaching importance to the diversity of students, we will offer courses such as English, Chinese, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, STEM, PSPE etc. These courses will help students learn in various ways, express themselves and give full play to their creative ability. Hope we can accompany our students to have a full and amazing summer holiday.
5. XLIS 2023 US KED / HAD Summer School
From June 19th to July 11th, some students from PYP6 to MYP3 will be accompanied by XLIS teachers to go to Kemesly School in Massachusetts and Harvard University for a 3-week summer camp.
Primary School Events
1. Assemblies – Fridays
Each Friday one of our homeroom classes has the opportunity to showcase what they have been learning! This is a student-led event that is supported by the teachers. The parents of the class that is presenting will be invited to join the audience.
2. PYP6 Graduation & ECEB Graduation – Friday, 9th June
We will be honored to celebrate the completion of the ECE program for our ECEB students on this date. ECEB parents are invited to join us to celebrate this important milestone for these students as they make the transition into our Primary Years Programme next year in P1.
PYP6 Graduation
Time: 13:00 – 15:30
Venue: Blue Dragon Theater
This will be one of the biggest graduations for our PYP program with 63 students taking to the stage to celebrate the completion of Primary School. We are very proud of our P6 graduates and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments together.
3. Primary Parent Workshop
Thursday, 1st June for PYP4 Parents
Time: 8:30am – 9:30am
Theme: Transdisciplinary Teaching in the PYP
Led by: Ms. Julia Fan
This workshop will teach parents what it means when we say in the PYP that our units of study are “transdisciplinary” and what it looks like in practice.
Tuesday, 6th June for PYP5 Parents
Time: 8:30am – 9:30am
Theme: PYP Exhibition
Led by: Ms. Maria
This workshop will give our P5 parents a look into the journey their children will be going on for the exhibition in P6 and give some advice on how to support them at home.
Thursday, 8th June for PYP6 Parents
Time: 8:30am – 9:30am
Theme: How to communicate and nurture kids in puberty?
Led by: Ms. Michelle Taylor
Our school counselor, Ms. Michelle Taylor will lead a workshop for parents to help them navigate through the time when their children are going through puberty. Strategies for communicating with your child effectively during this time will be shared.
Secondary School Events
1. MYP Celebration – Friday, 2nd June
On the 2nd June, our MYP5 students will celebrate their completion of their Middle Years Programme. They are now ready to start the Diploma Programme next academic year. To mark this special occasion, we have organized a celebration which will start at 11:40 am where there will be some speeches followed by a barbecue for our students.
2. Secondary Subject and Learner Profile Awards Assembly – Thursday, 15th June
Every year, we recognize all our students for showing outstanding skills in the way they learn and the way they interact with each other. This year we will recognize our students for having shown learner profile attributes and approaches to learning skills in their learning. We will also award certificates to those who have had outstanding performance in their subjects.
