Dear parents,
Here we are in the last week of March, and it feels like summer is here! I know that the weather will probably cool down again, but we are definitely getting into hotter Xi’an days. I hope that you all were able to attend the fun and competitive Sports Day yesterday. A very big thank you to all of the parents who were involved with supplying our students with drinks and ice cream on a very hot day. I know our students were so thankful!
To cap off the month of March, we have two events happening this Saturday, March 29th. First, we have the annual Math Kangaroo competition. If your child signed up for this, please ensure students arrive on campus no later than 9:40 am. They should bring a copy of their ID along with basic stationery such as pencils, a pen, erasers, a ruler, and a compass. Second, we have our Upper Primary Open Day, where we will hold demo classes for families with children from P4 – P6 age who may be interested in joining the XLIS community.
Next Wednesday, April 2nd, we will have the Early Release Day for students who will be dismissed at 2:30 pm. This gives our primary teachers an opportunity to work together on the curriculum adjustments that are necessary as the Ontario Science Curriculum has undergone a revision. Our Early Years, Mandarin, and Single Subject teachers are also going over their current learning outcomes and units to make any necessary adjustments.
To emphasize, the mission of XLIS is to be a non-profit school that enables our students to become confident, open-minded global citizens through lifelong learning and a sense of community. All of our leadership members welcome our parent feedback to learn how we are doing as we work towards this mission. You may contact me at any time at the below details and let me know how we are doing!
Sincerely,
Marly Song
