Dear Parents,
Good morning! It is difficult to believe that this is my last letter of the 2023-2024 school year and that in just 4 days we will be starting our summer holiday!
Please let me take this time to sincerely thank you all for your support of your children this year and for helping us to achieve our mission of being a non-profit school that enables students to be confident, open-minded global citizens through lifelong learning and a sense of community.
I have just a couple of things to note before we break off for the holidays:
Growth Mindset
Every person and every establishment has areas for growth. At XLIS we have our 4 school wide goals that we have developed since completing our IB Authorization visit and ASC WASC accreditation. We have a growth mindset, always looking for ways that we can be better. I believe that we have made great strides this year toward our school goals, and brought our community even closer together with the events, sports, and workshops. Do you have any particular reflections on our achievements or areas you feel we could still grow? Please do send me an email with your thoughts at any time.
Parent Survey
Another way that our school aims to collect feedback from our parent community is through surveys. Our Brand Development team has created this survey for our parents to complete so we can receive your level of satisfaction with XLIS programmes, facilities, and services. Please take a few minutes to complete it if you have not already, as your voice is valuable to us.

The survey will close this afternoon.
Leaving Community Members
We have very few staff leaving us in the primary school this year, and for that I am very thankful. That being said, there are two staff members who will be moving on from XLIS in the 2024-2025 academic year. First, Ms. Yiden has been a TA at XLIS for 3.5 years. We wish her the best of luck on her journey forward.
Second, Ms. Maria Zialcita, our PYP Coordinator has been with us for the past 10 years. She will be re-locating to Guangzhou next year. We are so sad to see her go, but wish her all the best as she begins a new chapter at a new school.
Although not a part of our primary department, we will also be saying goodbye to our secondary principal, Ms. Jaimala Quinlan. She has also been with us for 8 years and is responsible for the growth and development of our DP programme. She will be enjoying the retirement life and visiting her children and their families. It is a time that is well-deserved.
To all of the students and their families who are leaving – we are so lucky to have had you for your time you spent with us. Thank you for choosing XLIS, and we wish you well as you transition to your new location and school.
I would like to finish this letter, and the year, letting you know ~ Your children are all amazing! It fills my heart each day when they smile, say hello and tell me they are happy when they first walk into the school in the morning. I truly love our XLIS community.
Have a safe and enjoyable summer holiday. We will welcome you back on August 15th for our Community Day and August 19th
for the first day of the new academic year!
Sincerely,
Marly Song
