Dear Parents,
We have finally reached the end of a very busy academic year 2023-2024. It has been a year full of events in the Secondary and I am confident that our students have benefitted from all the activities they took part in.
This is my farewell letter to you all. I have spent 8 wonderful years amongst your children leading them in their academic life not forgetting to pay attention to their social and emotional development. I joined XLIS in 2016 to bring the Diploma Programme to the school and I am proud to see how strong the DP programme has become. I have witnessed the graduation of 6 cohorts of DP students, many of whom are now in the most renowned universities around the world. The past 2 years as Secondary Principal have allowed me to bring more rigour to the Middle Years Programme to enable our students to meet the rigour of the Diploma Programme.
As I write my last message to you, I want to reflect on our students. At XLIS we have indeed very kind and caring students. However, we need to allow them to face challenges to grow stronger in life. As parents, we always tend to protect our children but in doing so we are denying our children from becoming strong and resilient. The teenage years have never been easy for any parent, nor have they been for the students. However, we need to allow our children to make mistakes and learn from them rather than always protecting them. Eventually, when they go into the world, they will be able to face the challenges successfully.
Finally, I would like to thank all of you for your continuous support. I have enjoyed all the workshops and all the meetings that I have had with you. I wish you all the best in the years to come.
Enjoy the well-deserved summer holidays.
Jaimala Quinlan
Secondary Principal
