Dear Parents,
I hope this email finds you well. We are getting into a busy phase of the academic year. The October break is coming up for you and your family to have a good rest and reunion. Thanks for your continued engagement with the school as part of the community. Your contribution towards the International Peace day recently reflect how we can grow together as a community.
We have some very important things coming up between now and the next month.
MAP tests and progress reports-Our M1-M4 students have now successfully completed their MAP tests. The results are being sent home before the national holiday break. Teachers have started looking at the data to consider strategies to support your children in the classroom. The DP2 is having their CAS exhibition and M5 students are starting on their Criterion C for their Personal projects on September 26th.
All secondary school students will get their progress reports on the 17th of October. This would be a comment only report for M1-DP1 students. DP2 will get number grades along with comments. The progress reports should allow you, your child and the teachers to have a conversation in the three way conferences that have been scheduled on October 22. We will send you sign-up sheets to reserve slots to meet the subject teachers.
Secondary Parent workshop-The workshop on October 16th aims to engage parents in understanding how inquiry is at the heart of teaching the IB. There will be an emphasis on knowing how creative and critical thinking play a role in solving real world problems. The details for this workshop have been shared by the PR. I suggest that you to register for this workshop so that you can learn more on how inquiry works in the IB. Our I&S ASL, Mr. Kyle Jooste and our Science ASL, Mr. Kelvin will lead this session.
Apart from the workshops, we also have open days that are organized for you to get a flavor of how your children experience lessons throughout a day. Watch out for PR’s announcements on this. Our M1 open day is coming up on October 10th.
M4-M5 work experience– A gentle reminder as a follow up from my previous e-mail. We invite you to fill in the parent surveys of the M4-M5 work experience. The deadline is September 30th.
I would request M4-M5 parents to complete this survey https://liangjiatan.mikecrm.com/HSlXfmy along with your children for us to understand your child’s interests.
If you have any potential opportunities available for our students to explore, please complete this survey https://liangjiatan.mikecrm.com/hA7iPSN so that I can start reaching out to you.
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon.
Thanks and regards,
Shameek
