Dear Parents,
Hello everyone, I hope you have had a restful Mid-Autumn festival and National Holiday with some well deserved rest and time with family and friends. Thanks to all members of the community who have completed our survey for the M5 work experience. We really appreciate your support. We will now reach out to you to seek your support on how we can help our students. Thanks to all who are coming in for the open days. This is a great opportunity to see school in action.
We are getting into the busiest phase of the calendar year as we have lots of teaching and learning and reports coming through. I am outlining some of the events coming up in the near future.
Parent-Teacher conferences
You will be receiving the Progress Report for your child on October 17th . The parent teacher conferences are on Wednesday October 22, 2025. This is a Subject teachers would create their sign up sheets and send you via Managebac discussions by 15th. All the Middle School meetings are in the morning (8:30-12:30) and High School is in the afternoon (1:30-3:30) . This is a non-school day and presents an important opportunity to meet with the subject teachers after you met the homeroom teachers in the beginning of the year. Please ensure that you sign up early for this.
Literacy and culture week
This year’s Literacy and Culture Week ignites a division-wide celebration of interdisciplinary learning, where creative expression and academic exploration converge. Various departments will cast a spotlight on subject-specific literacy through engaging, hands-on activities. Students might decode complex chemical formulas in the science lab, analyze pivotal primary sources in Individuals and societies, or bring literary characters to life through illustration in art class. Mathematics will challenge students with the precise geometry of architectural design, while the language acquisition department will host its thrilling ‘Spelling Bee,’ where contestants master words with impressive skill. This dynamic approach powerfully demonstrates that literacy—whether visual, numerical, scientific, or linguistic—is the essential key to unlocking every discipline.
Parent workshops and open days
October 16th parent workshop- This one is on “Inquiry in Science and I&S” and being led by our academic subject leaders, Mr. Kelvin Tian and Mr. Kyle Jooste. PR has already sent an invite out. Please register on time. The workshop aims to engage parents in understanding how inquiry is at the heart of teaching in the IB. There will be an emphasis on knowing how creative and critical thinking can help form arguments, solve problems and connect with the bigger global contexts in which these problems are formed and solved.
Sporting events
Sports is integral to overall development of our children and it is what provides balance in the lives of our students. Mr. Dwyer and the athletics department go to great lengths to organize these events for our student athletes to participate. Please find the schedule for some of the sporting events in October. I would encourage you to support our students by going to these events and show your support for the children.
