Opening Positions
1. MYP/DP Chinese Language Acquisition & Literature Teacher
Requirements
· Qualified with a teaching certificate where applicable, a Master’s degree or above from a top university, and the major must be related to the teaching subject;
· Solid professional background related to the subject and more than five years’ experience as a full-time teacher; teaching experience in international schools; proficiency and fluency in English is required and able to teach in English;
· A truly international perspective and intercultural competence;
· Willingness to work with colleagues to create a positive school culture;
· Effective communication and engagement with children and their families;
· Experience as subject leader, IBE, workshop leader, site visit team member, examiner, moderator is preferred.
Main Responsibility
· Under the guidance of the Secondary Principal, conduct an effective Chinese language program based on the IB teaching philosophy and achieve the program objectives with high quality;
· Actively participate in collaborative teaching and research activities for improvement; understand students’ learning status and adjust the syllabus in a timely manner through class feedback;
· Organize and coach Chinese writing, debate and drama competitions for secondary students together with other teachers in the Chinese Department;
· Differentiate teaching according to students’ language level, and guide students to integrate inquiry-based learning to stimulate their enthusiasm for learning;
· Effective communication and engagement with children and their families;
2. ECE Teaching Assistant
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree or above, master’s degree preferred; education and English majors preferred;
· Qualified with a teaching certificate where applicable, experience working in international schools is preferred;
· Fluency in English and Chinese, effective communication and engagement with children and their families;
· Willingness to work with colleagues to create a positive school culture;
· Passionate about education; strong sense of responsibility, execution and problem solving skills.
Main Responsibility
· Assisting the homeroom teacher for preparations before and after class;
· Cooperating with the homeroom teacher in classroom teaching and management;
· Assisting homeroom teachers in various class activities. (Parent-teacher conference, field trip, etc.)
· Assisting the homeroom teacher in supervising students’ behavior and looking after their safety;
· Decorating the classroom as requested by the homeroom teacher, making display boards inside and outside the classroom, and maintaining a good teaching and learning environment;
· Efficiently completing other work as assigned by the school.

With the world-class international school as the standard, from 2014 to 2018, XLIS has been the first IB world school in Northwestern China, fully authorized to offer all three IB programmes (PYP, MYP, and DP). The school provides a complete 15-year IB continuum learning journey (PYP including Early Years, MYP, and DP). It implements its curriculum in a global context, All teaching activities are guided by the students’ own developmental needs and interests through differentiated approaches to learning in classrooms with a regulated number of students. There is a maximum of 16 to 18 students in early years’ classes. At most 22 students can be accepted in each PYP, MYP and DP classes. The teacher-student ratio across the school is of 1 teacher to 6 students. The educators at XLIS are expected to respect the differences among students, celebrate their talents, and value the importance of family education. They strive to create an international community that is conductive to the students’ academic, social, physical, and emotional growth. This is achieved through transdisciplinary planning and learning, the understanding and implementation of the school-wide learner outcomes (SLOs), as well as inquiry and concept-based learning.
