Dear Parents,
Hope this email finds you well. Time flies as we enter in to April. In a week’s time, we will be having our spring break between April 4 – April 12. Thanks to the entire school community for the annual sports day and the digital detox week. It was good to see children approach and engage in and out of the classroom without devices. It did bring back the focus back on alternate forms of researching, conversing, building friendships and teamwork. A survey has been sent to parents to gather feedback on this initiative. Your feedback allows us to move from simple data to gathering insights into how these initiatives can transform the lives of our children through a continued partnership. This month is an important one in terms of teaching, learning and assessment and some of the important things are included here.
IBDP examinations: The final DP exams start on April 27th. Now is the beginning of the finish line for our graduating class of 2026 to focus on this last part of their Diploma journey. We request DP 2 parents to keep in touch with us with regards to any questions you might have or matters you need to discuss with us. I would recommend you to reach out our DP coordinator, Ms. Eva Liu (eva.liu@xalis.com) on this.
Work experience for M4 and M5– Thanks to all parents of M4 and M5 for responding to our surveys and taking the time to review this with your children. At this stage, we have gathered all the interest and are in communication with you and with the potential work experience providers to work towards ensuring that the children have a fruitful experience learning.
Parent communication for Non-ECA students and early leaving-If your child is not doing an ECA, we request you to send in an email to your child’s homeroom teacher copying myself. No child will be allowed to leave campus without prior e-mails. Late emails would mean that there would be delays in leaving the student as safety comes first.
Personal project for M4 students– Our M4 students have already begun their personal projects and have been allocated supervisors. Please encourage your children at home by having conversations that allow them to express their learning. April 17 is the target date for our next session with students, where they will begin working on Objective A of their report. You may reach out to our MYP coordinator, Ms. Emma Yang (emma.yang@xalis.com) for any queries on this or the MYP.
Have a great week ahead,
Shameek
