Silk Road Music Competition
XLIS will once again host the annual Silk Road Classical Music Competition in the Blue Dragon Theatre on Saturday, April 18th. This prestigious event aims to provide a platform for students to showcase their classical music talents in front of a carefully selected panel of judges. Late Release PD
During our late release training our PYP team will use the time to review our Programme of Inquiry. Adjustments may be made to units of inquiry after teachers reflect on the impact. Our DP team will also be using the time to reflect on the programme.

PYP Exhibition
In their final year of the Primary Years Programme (PYP), students engage in the PYP Exhibition, an important inquiry that allows students to apply the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the PYP while exploring real-life issues of interest. They will present their research and actions to the school community through engaging exhibits, hands-on models and written reports, showcasing their understanding of real-world challenges and innovative solutions.Topics for this year’s exhibition include cultural awareness and belonging, human choices affecting animal welfare and the environment, technological innovations in waste management, balancing academic pressure and student wellbeing, and communication and perspectivetaking to resolve disagreements in sports. We look forward to celebrating our students’ hard work and creativity at the P6 PYP Exhibition!

Theme: Building Strong Partnerships: Enhancing Collaboration Between Parents and Teachers in the PYP
This workshop emphasizes the essential collaboration between parents and teachers in the PYP to support student growth. When parents engage positively and actively, it creates a strong environment that boosts their child’s development. This partnership empowers parents to play a key role in their child’s ongoing learning journey.

As an officially licensed TEDx event, TEDx XLIS Youth brings the global mission of “Ideas Worth Spreading” directly into the heart of community. Our young thinkers, creators, and storytellers step onto the iconic red dot not just to speak, but to challenge, to inspire, and to connect. They invite us to see the world through their eyes—a perspective filled with fresh insight, empathy, and bold hope for the future. This is a unique dialogue between generations and across cultures, all happening right here at XLIS. Prepare to be challenged and inspired by the voices that define our school.

Theme: Assessment & Reporting and Managing Exam Stress
On April 15th, the Secondary team would lead a workshop on ‘Assessment & reporting and managing exam stress’. This will be led by the Secondary Principal and the Coordinators. The workshop will consider forms of assessments, how they are reported and used for learning. The team will talk about strategies that can reduce examination stress and how learning can be made more effective in that stage.

Science and Design Fair
The XLIS Science and Design Fair 2026 will take place on April 22, Earth Day, under the theme Our Power, Our Planet. This year’s event features student projects from both Science and Design, alongside the IB Diploma Programme Collaborative Science Project (CSP). Students will investigate real-world environmental challenges and present innovative and sustainable solutions through scientific inquiry and design thinking. The event highlights student collaboration, creativity, and the application of interdisciplinary approaches to global issues.

Secondary Open Day
We are delighted to invite prospective families to our Secondary Open Day for an informative and interactive morning on campus.This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about IB MYP and DP programmes. You will hear from our experienced educators about our curriculum, teaching philosophy, and how we support students on their learning journey.Throughout the morning, you and your child can participate in IB demo classes, giving a real feel for classroom learning at our school. Guided campus tours will also be offered, allowing you to explore our facilities and learning spaces.
