Professional Development
Artificial Intelligence is a tool which can help our students gather information and analyze data easily. During the two days Dr. Jennifer Chang Wathall and her colleague Nicloe Thorson came to teach us from Dr. Wathall’s new book AI Powered Pedagogy. We learned how to guide our students to use AI whild also understanding the ethical implications of the tools.

Primary Parent Workshop
Theme: Online Platforms
An informative session focused on the online tools and platforms used in the PYP at XLIS to support student learning and enhance communication was held on February 4th. We explored ManageBac, IXL, Raz Kids, and SeeSaw, highlighting their features and benefits.

Primary Chinese New Year’s Celebration
The “Galloping Horse Welcomes Spring” fair for all PYP students was organized in the form of booths, including fun Chinese knowledge quizzes, hands-on experiences of New Year customs, traditional festival games, and tasting of traditional holiday foods. Most notably, we had invited student representatives from Xi’an Gaoxin No. 29 Primary School to join our student representatives in performing folk dances such as stilt-walking and yangko dance.

Secondary Chinese New Year’s Celebration
In the morning our Chinese learners took the stage in the 8th Chinese Speech Contest,” a thrilling showcase of more than just linguistic skill. It was a deep dive into cultural exploration. In the contest, they unraveled the wisdom of Spring Festival customs and shared heartfelt stories of personal growth and cultural encounters. In the afternoon, they experienced hands-on cultural heritage crafts in our workshops, then played interactive games with lively NPCs (student role-players), and won wonderful prizes.
