The theme of the XLIS 2022 graduation was “Crossing the Bridge,” inspired by an artwork by Corina Li. The artwork graces the invitation to the 2022 graduation ceremony. The class of 2022 walked across the stage and will soon cross the bridge to university. All of graduating students were part of our XLIS Middle Years Program (MYP) cohorts, and one student, Sophia Ma, graduated from the Primary Years Program (PYP) at XLIS, taking part in culminating tasks for all three programs. We are proud of all of our students and excited about their bright futures in university. Our students have gained acceptance to excellent universities worldwide, and many have received impressive scholarship offers.
The valedictorian for the class of 2022 is Subin (Clara) Bang, who graduates with the highest academic grades in the year group. Subin represented the class and gave a heartfelt speech to the graduates at the ceremony. The students chose Jia Wei (Jarry) Liang as the salutatorian to represent them with a touching speech at graduation. A tradition at XLIS is to have the students choose one teacher to give a speech to the graduate class. This year, the class chose Ms. Shreya Sethi, the DP2 Visual Arts teacher to give the speech. During the ceremony, Dr. Liu, Ms. Yorke, and Ms. Quinlan also spoke to the graduates, their parents, the secondary students and teachers. Our MYP Bands and Choir performed under the direction of Jonathan Lee Ching and Sam Wanamaker. MYP5 Ma Haotian (Theodore) from MYP5 shared a special solo performance to honor the graduates.
We have loved working with this group of students over the years and enjoyed welcoming the graduates, their families, secondary students and teachers to celebrate this momentous occasion of “crossing the bridge” to adulthood.
