Dr. Liu, the Head of School, was awarded the “Special Contribution Award” at the “RAISE 2023 Asian International Schools Conference & 30 Years Award Ceremony International Schools in China”.
Dr. Liu, the Head of School, was awarded the “Special Contribution Award” at the “RAISE 2023 Asian International Schools Conference & 30 Years Award Ceremony International Schools in China”, who is also the ever first Chinese Board Member of ACAMIS since its establishment 24 years ago. Under the leadership of Dr. Liu and Mr. Lalor, XLIS became the first IB continuum school in northwest China to be successfully accredited from PYP, MYP and DP. With their active efforts, our application to The East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) was finally successfully accepted, which greatly facilitated cooperation and exchanges between XLIS and international schools in other regions, and constantly enhanced our school’s national and global visibility that made great contributions to Shaanxi’s internationalization in terms of attracting investment and supporting children’s education for foreign experts.
Mr. Brian Gerard Lalor, the Deputy Head of Xi’an Liangjiatan International School,was honored with the 2023 Shaanxi Friendship Award recently.
The Shaanxi Friendship Award is the highest award set up by the Shaanxi Provincial Government to recognize foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the economic and social construction of Shaanxi Province, thus promoting exchanges and cooperation between Shaanxi Province and foreign countries in the areas of economy, science and technology, culture, education and health, etc. A total of 10 foreign experts in Shaanxi Province have received the award this year.
On December 4th, 2023, Ms. Lan Zhuangli, Deputy Secretary of Science and Technology Work Committee of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, Ms. Ma Ling, Director of Shaanxi Foreign Experts Affairs Division, Mr. Lou Wenxiao, Member of Leading Party Members Group, Deputy Director-general of Science and Technology Bureau of Xi’an Municipality, and Mr. Gao Yuntian, Director-general of Science, Technology & Innovation Bureau of Hi-Tech Zone, visited Xi’an Liangjiatan International School to grant an award to Mr. Lalor.
Originally from Ireland, Mr. Lalor got his Master’s degree in Education Leadership, from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and has been concentrating on curriculum management and educational leadership for many years. Currently, he is responsible for our whole school’s teaching implementation and teacher management. He also serves the international school community as an Evaluation Leader for the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and as a visiting team member for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), chiefly responsible for the assessment, evaluation and accreditation of international schools in China. As a Chinese culture disseminator who has a deep love for China, Mr. Lalor is always passionate about social and public welfare undertakings. He always feels grateful to what the ancient city of Xi’an provided his family and pays back this land through his educational actions.
The year of 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of Liangjiatan International School from its establishment as XHIS to the model of high-level international schools in Northwest China of today. Over the past two decades, under the strong leadership of the Party Working Committee and the Administrative Committee of the High-tech Zone, XLIS has grown from 2 students and 4 teachers in the beginning to nearly 800 students and teachers from 50 countries and regions today, becoming a leading school for international education in the northwest region. In the future, Liangjiatan International School will continue to contribute to the development of international education in the High-tech Zone, which serves as national “Dual Centers” Core Area and the construction of the “Four High-techs.”
