01 – End of ECAs

Tuesday, June 8th

Please be kindly reminded that Tuesday June 8th, 2021, marks the last day of our Extra Curricular Activities (ECA). From then onward, buses will depart the school at regular times on Tuesdays and Thursdays, until the new programme starts in September 2nd, 2021. Thanks to all of you who supported us with this endeavor!

 

02 – Dragon Boat Festival

Saturday – Monday, June 12th – June 14th

The school will be closed for the Dragon Boat Festival, on Monday June 14th, 2021. We wish you all a safe and wonderful holiday.

 

03 – Regular PTA Core Members Meeting

Tuesday, June 15th

Note: This event is a private venture designed for PTA Core Members only. PTA Core Members will be notified accordingly.

 

04 – End of semester 2

Friday, June 18th

From Saturday, June 19th to Sunday, August 15th, the school will be closed for the summer vacation. We wish you all a safe and wonderful holiday.

 

05 – XLIS 2021 Summer Camp

Monday-Wednesday, June 21st-July 30th

The XLIS 2021 SDGs Summer Camp iwill be full of action-packed fun for all ages. It will run from the 20th of June to the 31st of July 2021. Some of the activities we offer include but are not limited to, sports, outdoor exploration, water activities, cultural experiences, academic sessiomns and free play. Through this exciting program, children will experience opportunities to collaborate, play, and have fun with each other in a safe and stimulating learning environment. 01 – Assemblies

Fridays

Primary assemblies enable students to actively display what they have taken from their units of inquiry during the year. Students have been working on a trans-disciplinary theme which focuses on knowledge, concepts, ATLs (Approaches to Learning), action and Learner Profile attributes. The schedule is as follows,

02 – ECE Graduation

On June 4th, ECE team will be celebrating their learning by holding a graduation ceremony, and ECEB students will be given their early years learning certificates. Congratulations!

01 – DP1 TOK Exhibition

Wednesday, June 9th

Time: 8:30am-9:30am

Venue: Blue Dragon Theatre Foyer

Led by: Lars Jefferson, Eunice Hou, Scott Ramon

Our DP1 students have been studying Theory of Knowledge for the past year, exploring areas of knowledge and ways of knowing and the knower’s perspective. A mandatory part of the DP TOK course is to create an exhibition to share their understanding of knowledge systems. We invite you to this show to get a deeper understanding of TOK. MYP5 students and parents and DP1 parents will be welcomed.

02 – Session: Transition to DP

Our MYP5 students are taking a big academic step, moving from the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to the rigorous two-year Diploma Programme (DP). How can they prepare for this journey this summer? What are the differences and how will they prepare for university? MYP 5 parents and students will be welcomed.

03 – Kindness Day

Friday, June 11th

Time: All Day

Led by: Secondary Student Council

XLIS students will celebrate kindness day by wearing pink and performing random acts of kindness. This event is sponsored by the secondary student council. This is our 5th annual Kindness day at XLIS secondary. We encourage everyone to wear pink and be kind.

04 – PYP-MYP transition session (PYP6 students and parents)

Tuesday, June 15th

Time: 2:30pm-4:00pm

Venue: Black Box Theatre

We invite PYP6 parents and students to meet our middle school lead teacher, secondary principal and our MYP 1 teachers. We will have MYP1 students welcoming and presenting. This will be a warm welcome to the middle school at XLIS. On the morning of June 16th, we will have a PYP-MYP transition session for the students. Our current MYP1 students will be part of these welcoming events. Some of the students will share highlights of their MYP1 experience and their learning stories.

05 – XLIS Secondary Subject Awards and Learner Profile Awards

Thursday, June 17th

Time: 10:40am-12:30pm

This is our fifth annual awards day in the XLIS Secondary. Students across MYP and DP will win subject awards and educational growth awards and special awards for their achievements. In addition, we will hold our bi-annual Learner Profile Awards and recognize student who exemplify the school wide learning outcomes (SLO), the IB Learner Profile Attributes.

06 – Challenge Run

Friday, June 18th

On Friday 18th June morning – the last day of school – we will have our first ever XLIS Challenge Run. The will be a whole secondary event which will involve each of you, our talented students! The aim for the event is to improve health and wellbeing, have fun with your friends and support school-connected charities.

07 – Summer Program

June and July

· Live Online’ Career Experiences

An opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, doctors, psychologists, vets and others this term. You can attend ‘Live Online’ and gain immersive work experiences all from the comfort of your own home. · 2021 Secondary School Enrichment Programs

Colleges and universities are offering short-term online and on-campus programs that offer a taste of what life would be like at their institution. Some offer a mixture of academic and social content, courses taught by tenured professors, and even an opportunity to earn credit.
