Xi’an Liangjiatan International School is proud to present its 2021 Summer Camp Program to all members of the community. This international education summer camp will run three age-specific international programs from June 21st to July 2nd, from July 5th to July 16th, and from July 19th to July 30th. Please read the general introduction of the 2021 Summer Camp here.
Please be aware that the first program has limited seat available for registration. In order to increase student participation and safety, personal technological devices are not permitted on campus. Students will be provided access to the school’s computers and other devices while under their teachers’ supervision.

Group 1
ECE-P3 Day Camp
21st June – 2nd July

P2 and P3 two groups in total,
and two classes for each group
Acknowledgements:
· At 9:00am, on June 21st, parents are invited to attend the opening ceremony with the students. After the opening ceremony, the homeroom teachers will lead the students to start their lessons while parents may pay for their children’s meals (ten days) in the cafeteria. Afterwards, a school tour will be organized for parents wishing to visit the campus.
· On July the 2nd, the last day of camp, parents are invited to attend the closing ceremony at 1:00 p.m. The closing ceremony will include a presentation of the students’ learning achievements.
· Parents wishing to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies must comply with the school’s epidemic prevention rules and regulations. All attendees will be required to present their health code and undergo a temperature check at the school entrance. All specific arrangements will be conducted according to the epidemic prevention policy.

1.Alex Rambaud (Vice-Principal)
Studying for a Master of Educational
Leadership at the University of Roehampton
Alex Rambaud who currently serves as XLIS Vice Principal and Dormitory Director has been supporting the school for over 6 years. He holds a CERTESOL, three Cambridge TKT certificates, and five IB certifications covering all three programmes. He is currently working on his M.Ed. thesis focusing on leadership and SEN at the University of Roehampton, London.
2.Syuzanna Gasparyan (Primary EAL Teacher)
Syuzanna Gasparyan holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and has seven years of teaching experience as a teacher of English in the American University of Armenia’s Department of English Programs and Experimental English Classes. Mrs. Gasparyan has also participated in several international conferences.
3. Julia Fan (PYP Chinese Assistant Coordinator & P4C Homeroom Teacher)
MA, Chinese Linguistics and Language Acquisition from the Chinese University of Hong Kong
Julia Fan worked in Hong Kong for over two years while researching childhood bilingualism at the language center of CUHK. She has more than five years of teaching experience in addition to two years of research in childhood bilingualism, besides her teaching role, Julia serves as XLIS’ Assistant PYP Coordinator and is a key figure of the primary school leadership team.
Group 2
P4-M2 Boarding Camp
05th July – 16th July
Each day we will “travel” to a new destination inquiring into new and distinct cultures and beliefs. We will examine these places through a transdisciplinary lens combining multiple subject areas, such as Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Art, all while looking at the Sustainable Development Goals that impact each location. Students will continue to develop their ATL skills while exploring their creativity and gaining an understanding of others.

· On the first day of camp, July 5, parents are invited to attend the opening ceremony with the students at 9:00 a.m. After the opening ceremony, the homeroom teachers will lead the students to the dormitory and then to the classrooms to start their learning. Parents can pay for their students’ meals for ten days, in the cafeteria. Afterwards, parents who wish to visit the campus will be provided with a tour.
· On the last day of camp, July 16, parents are invited to attend the closing ceremony at 1:00 p.m. The closing ceremony will include a presentation of the students’ learning achievements.
· Parents wishing to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies must comply with the school’s epidemic prevention rules and regulations. All attendees will be required to present their health code and undergo a temperature check at the school entrance. All specific arrangements will be conducted according to the epidemic prevention policy.
· No classes are scheduled during the weekend. Students will be picked up by their parents at the end of the day on Friday, July 9 at 3:00 pm. Also, students are required to meet at school at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11. If there are students who will arrive at school on Monday, parents are required to inform the teachers in charge of each class in advance.

1.Denise Dukeshire (Primary Homeroom Teacher)
Denise comes from Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Maine in the US, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in international development from Saint Mary’s University in Canada. She has six years of teaching experience and has taught in IB Schools in Thailand and China.
2.Terren Maves (Primary EAL Teacher)
Terren Maves received his TEFL / TESL certification in 2006 and has over twelve years of experience teaching EAL / ESL learners right here, in the city of Xi’an. In his free time, he enjoys reading and cooking dishes from around the world. He is also an avid amateur magician who has performed at various local charity events and school functions.
3.Sloane Hill (EAL&MYP Language Acquisition Teacher)
Master of Education from Sam Houston State University, US
Sloane hails from the USA. She holds a Master of Education degree in TESOL from the Sam Houston State University in US. She also has a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of North Texas in the US, as well as a Texas Educator Certificate. Sloane has taught at Sharpstown High School in the US and the Qatar Academy Al Wakra, Qatar. Sloane is proficient in differentiated instruction and utilizing technology in the classroom for a variety of English levels. She is experienced in teaching English, the arts, and understanding the American curriculum and IB curriculum framework.
Group 3
M3-DP1 Boarding Camp(Additional P4-M2 Boarding Camp)
19th July – 30th July
Our M3-DP1 summer school participants will investigate two interconnected SDG goals for two weeks.

· On the first day of camp, June 19, parents are invited to attend the opening ceremony with the students at 9:00 a.m. After the opening ceremony, the homeroom teachers will lead the students to the dormitory and back to the classrooms to start their learning. Parents can pay for their students’ meals for ten days in the cafeteria. Afterwards, parents wishing to visit the campus will be provided with a tour.
· On the last day of camp, July 30, parents are invited to attend the closing ceremony at 1:00 p.m. The closing ceremony will include a presentation of the students’ learning achievements.
· Parents wishing to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies must comply with the school’s epidemic prevention rules and regulations. All attendees will be required to present their health code and undergo a temperature check at the school entrance. All specific arrangements will be conducted according to the epidemic prevention policy.

1.Scott Ramon (MYP/DP Visual Arts Teacher, Art, Music and Design Subject Leader)
Master’s degree in Printmaking from San Francisco Art Institute
Scott hails from the USA. He received his master’s degree in Printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute and his bachelor’s degree in Printmaking & Video, from Herron School of Art & Design. He has over 20 years’ experience in education and served as the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing at the Kansas City Art Institute, and as the Director of Student Recruitment at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Scott also served as the Director of Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has taught studio art to university students, middle school and high school students at SAIC.
2.Beena Sarada (DP Biology Teacher & Environmental Systems Teacher)
Master of Science (Botany) from University of Kerala, India
Beena hails from India. She received her Master of Science in Botany and her Bachelor of Science in Botany, Zoology and Chemistry from the University of Kerala. She has 17 years of solid teaching experience in multicultural international schools and 9 years teaching experience in IB schools. Beena has served as head of a large science department and has also supervised IB CAS activities.
3.Lu Liu
Dormitory Coordinator
Studying for Flinders University MEd-Master of Educational Leadership and Management
Lu Liu has been working in the field of education for over four years. She has a Cambridge University TKT and American TESOL English teacher certifications. She also holds a Confucius Institute Headquarters Certificated as a Chinese teacher. Lu is experienced in organizing logistics for multiple high quality school events at XLIS and possesses excellent organizational skills.
