Whole School Events
1. Staff PD and Early Release – Wednesday, 1st March
Wednesday will be an early release day for students with buses leaving campus at 2:30. XLIS staff will be leading nine different sessions for other staff members. Some of the sessions include lesson planning, inquiry cycle, behavior management and developing assessment rubrics.
2. Parent-Principal Coffees – Mondays(from March 6th)
Spend time with our Heads and Principals in a casual setting, every Monday morning from 8:00 to 12:00. Only six families may apply weekly. Please register by the link: https://xlis2022-2023publicrelations.mikecrm.com/208YTGY.
3. PTA Core Member Meeting – Tuesday, 7th March
The second monthly PTA core meeting of the second semester will be held on Tuesday, March 7th, and we will notify all PTA members by email later on.
4. Fire Drill – Wednesday, 8th March
The purpose of a school fire drill is to allow staff and students to familiarize themselves with the fire evacuation procedures, and to reinforce fire evacuation routes and practices. One of the aims of a fire drill is to have the proper actions be an automatic response whenever the schools fire alarm sounds, and that all students and staff safely evacuate the building in an orderly and calm manner.
5. Dormitory Fire Drill – Wednesday, 8th March
The purpose of a dormitory fire drill is allow staff and students to who live in the dormitory to familiarize themselves with the appropriate fire evacuation procedures, and to reinforce fire evacuation routes and practices. 6. Science Fair – Tuesday, 14th March
This year the secondary school and the primary school will take part in the Science fair. This event will look different for both sections of the school. In the Secondary, students will display the work they have done in Science. There will be a variety of interesting experiments that will be displayed by our students and lots more interesting activities. This is the first year that Secondary is hosting this event and it is indeed a very exciting time for all our Science teachers and our young scientists. In Primary, the classes will set up their exhibitions in the hallways to highlight the projects they have completed in the first half of the year. There will also be an opportunity for students to observe the Secondary Science Fair to see what they will participate in when they reach that age. Our Maker and Science ECA providers will set up some exploration activities for our students to experience as well!
7. Silk Road Classical Music Competition and Recital – Saturday, 25th March
XLIS has the immense honor to invite you the first “Silk Road Classical Music Competition and Recital”! This prestigious event aims to provide a platform for students to showcase their classical music talents in front of a carefully selected panel of judges. The event will take place at the XLIS Blue Dragon Theater on March 25th, 2023. Please check your email for more information!
8. Track and Field Day – Friday, 31st March
This yearly event at XLIS is a platform for our students to showcase their athletic skills! Please stay tuned for more information which will be sent to you via Email!
Primary School Events
1. Assemblies – Fridays
Each Friday one of our homeroom classes has the opportunity to showcase what they have been learning! This is a student-led event that is supported by the teachers. The parents of the class that is presenting will be invited to join the audience.

2. Primary Parent Talk – Thursday, 16th March

We’ve completed two Parent Talk sessions for Secondary parents in February, in March and April, we will continue to invite our Primary parents to share their education thinking and experience face to face. Warmly welcome to participate in this meaningful session.
Secondary School Events
1. DP2 Visual Arts Exhibition
Monday, 20th March – Thursday, 23rd March
The DP2 students will exhibit their artwork which they have created for their Process portfolios for the final IB exam session of May 2023.Every year we are amazed at the level of creativity of our DP students. We look forward to welcoming all of you for the opening ceremony which will be on Monday from 4:00pm -6pm. The artwork will remain on till Thursday 23rd if any parents want to come later. More details will follow.
2. Secondary Parent Workshop (for MYP3 Parents) – Wednesday, 22nd March
This year the MYP3 students will undertake the community project which is a project based on service and action. We invite parents of MYP 3 students to attend a workshop led by our Service as Action Coordinator, M. Hakim, This will be an opportunity for all parents to learn more about the MYP programme. This event will start at 9:00 and will end at 11:00. We look forward to seeing you all.

4. MYP5 Personal Project Presentation (Blue Dragon Theater) – Thursday, 23rd March
This year as part of the Personal Project exhibition, we have decided to host short presentations by every MYP5 student where they will present their project talk about their goals and challenges. This will give all parents the opportunity to hear all students and ask questions about their experience. The exhibition will be on the following day.
