XLIS is proud to announce that it will hold its annual Summer Fair on the 29th of May 2021. This year’s Summer Fair will not only include its awe inspiring “Musical Gala” and its international food court, but also a visual art gallery which will feature students’ art works from across all year levels. Primary assemblies enable students to actively display what they have taken from their units of inquiry during the year. Students have been working on a trans-disciplinary theme which focuses on knowledge, concepts, ATLs (Approaches to Learning), action and Learner Profile attributes. The schedule is as follows,

02 – PYP Parents Coffee Morning

03 – Maker Fair
Tuesday, May 18th
On May 18th, PYP will have a school event called Maker Fair. Students will have their class stations to show their makings in the big gym. This is a great opportunity for the students to interact with other makers in our school and learn how we value each other’s creativity and innovation.

04 – Final Match of XLIS Inaugural Xi’an Elementary Basketball League
Saturday-Sunday, May 22th-May 23rd
Inaugural Xi’an Elementary Basketball League initiated by Richie Li from our PSPE Department consists of five teams from five international schools in Xi’an. These schools will be playing league matches over a one-month period and the final match will be held on May 22 at the XLIS campus. Let’s go Blue Dragons!

Secondary School Events
01 – Personal Project Exhibition
Friday, May 7th
Personal Project (PP) is the culminating project of learning for the Middle Years Program five years. Through this project, students have been encouraged to practice and strengthen ATL skills, consolidate prior and subject-specific knowledge and skills, and, most importantly, develop personal interests and passions. The PP is a year-long project-based learning journey that provides a platform for young adults to focus on personal, experiential, and independent learning.
8:30-17:00 On May 7th in big gym, we will showcase their Personal Projects and celebrate. Welcome all parents to attend this event at 15:30 – 17:00. Congratulations to the MYP Year 5 students on the successful completion of the Personal Project 2020-21.

04 – Student Led Conferences
Friday, May 14th
Parents will book an appointment for a student led conference with their child and introduction session with the Middle School and High School Lead Teacher and Principal. Sessions will run from 8:30-9:25 or 9:30-10:25 or 10:30-11:25. These conferences are face-to-face at the school.(The conferences will be followed by the SDG middle school speech contest.)

The class of 2021 will walk across the stage in their caps and gowns and receive their XLIS diploma. There will be speeches, pagentry and a big celebration for our graduating class and their families.All secondary students will attend the ceremony and a private reception will be held for graduates and their families and teachers after the event.

09 – SDG Projects and Exams

MYP 1-5 students will be engaged in Sustainable Development Goals projects for one week. The students will focus on the 17 biggest issues facing the world today. At the end of the week, students will present their projects.

10 – Week Without Walls Shaanxi

This year the secondary will head off on 6 trips in Shaanxi province. There will be separate trips for MYP1, MYP2 and MYP3 and an MYP4/MYP5 trip and DP1/DP2 trip. Also there will be a special high school trip for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
