1. The General Election of The New PTA
With great support of PTA, which was initially established in November, 2019, XLIS has achieved constant and steady develpment in the past two years. Especially in the current epidemic of Covid-19, the in-depth communication and cooperation between family and school have ensured a successful operation of the school. In this November, we will begin the general election of the new PTA, plannig to recruit 7 core members and several PTA representatives of different grades. If you have the intention, please email your appication to ptamembers@xalis.com before November 15th.
Primary School Events
1. Assemblies – Fridays
Primary assemblies enable students to actively display what they have taken from their units of inquiry during the year. Students have been working on a trans-disciplinary theme which focuses on knowledge, concepts, ATLs (Approaches to Learning), action and Learner Profile attributes. The schedule is as follows,

02. Primary Swimming Tournament – Tuesday, November 2nd
Blue Dragons are great swimmers! Our little dragons have just completed an eight week PSPE unit focused on swimming. In order to celebrate the end of the unit students have the opportunity to sign-up to race in the XLIS Dragon Olympics. This year the tournament has been extended to have both freestyle and breaststroke events for students to choose from.

This workshop will be led by Maria Trujillo our Enhanced Learning Teacher and Michelle Taylor our Whole School Counselor. It will be an introduction into the support systems available to our students at XLIS.

The workshop will be focused on how we encourage students to lead the learning in the Secondary.
2. Mental Health Awareness Day Led by MYP and DP Students – Wednesday, November 17th
November 17th will see the first ever XLIS Mental Health Awareness event. Our students have resoundingly said their mental health and wellbeing are important and the pressures faced by students require attention.
They have been brainstorming the common issues and how best to support their peers in SA (Service as Action) and CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service). The event will take place on campus at various locations chosen by the students. Each student will sign up to two 30 minute workshops/sessions based on their interests and needs.
These workshops/sessions include Peer mentoring, brother-sister systems, snowball activity, music, art, exercise, and meditation are just a few of the sessions on offer. Anxiety, stress, depression etc. are issues that effects us all and this event is an important step in making these topics part of daily conversation.
3. Learner Profile Assembly – Wednesday, November 24th
4. The Giving Tree – Wednesday, November 24th
The student council will be leading the Giving Tree assembly and each homeroom class will be assigned one or two migrant children to buy gifts for the children who need help. We will share the child’s age, name, shoe and clothes size, hobbies, favorite color, etc..
