3. Progress Report – Friday, 21st October
On October 21st, we will upload your child’s first report card for the 2022-2023 academic year to Managebac. Please log-in to the platform to download this document. If you need assistance, you may reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher or TA to help guide you. This is called a “Progress Report” as it gives you a summary of your child’s learning so far this year. All of the Ontario Learning Outcomes that have been completed through the Unit of Inquiry, in Specialist Classes and Mandarin will be listed with a number from 1 – 3 assigned to it. A 1 represents an emerging understanding of the skill or content. A 2 means that the child is developing his or her understanding and a score of 3 means that the child is able to demonstrate the outcome without support. One of the most important parts of this report card is the section on ATL skills (Approaches to Learning). In this section, the homeroom teacher will have written a comment describing your child’s progress in important skills such as communication, social skills, their ability to problem solve or conduct research. Please review this document before the Parent-teacher conferences the following week.
4. Three- Way Conferences – Wednesday, 26th October
The Parent-teacher conference is provided as an opportunity for the teacher and family member to discuss the students learning through the first 2 months of school. There will not be any classes for students on this day, so please take note and make the necessary arrangements. You will receive more information and a schedule with your time closer to the date. Our Single Subject and Mandarin teachers are also available to meet you, please send them an email in advance to arrange the time on that day.

6. Literacy and Culture Week
Monday, 31st October – Friday, 4th November
We have celebrated literacy week in the primary school for the past eight years. It is one of the significant events in primary to promote a love of reading, highlight various fun and engaging ways to enhance language teaching and learning and educate parents about the value of reading at home. Our tradition is to start the week with Pajama Day and then throughout the week, classes will do various activities appropriate to their grade level. One of the highlights in the past has been buddy reading with MYP or other primary classes. To end the week, the Friday is “Book Character Day” where the students are encouraged to dress up as a character from a story. It is a lot of fun to see the creative ways the students represent the characters from books!
