Dear Parents,
Hope this e-mail finds you well. Wish you all a happy new year and welcome back to the second semester of school. This is a short period before we break again for the Chinese new year!
We wish the very best to the students and families who have left, and welcome our new students and their families to join XLIS.
1. Parent teacher meet- We have our parent teachers meeting on January 15th. The sign-up sheets have been sent to you to make sure that you can book a time to meet your child’s teacher. The reports were sent out on January 10th. For the secondary students, it is a time to reflect on their performance and collaborate with the parents and teachers to strategize and focus on improving academic and social skills.
2. Chinese new year celebration- Next week on January 22nd, the secondary school will celebrate the Chinese new year. There are a lot of activities planned by the students and teachers and we are looking forward to welcoming the new year as a community.
3. Assessments coming up for DP2- As we re-open after Chinese New year, the DP2 and M5 students will be doing their mock examinations to prepare for the finals later in May. The schedule for the same will be communicated with the students and parents by the DP coordinator, Ms Eva Liu and the MYP coordinator, Ms. Emma Yang.
4. Parent workshop- We will have a parent workshop on January 23rd on Predicted grades in the MYP and DP led by our coordinators. The poster with the information is attached. This is for parents of students ranging from M4-DP2. Attending this workshop would allow you to understand how predicted grades are awarded.
