1. Staff PD and Early Release
On the early release day for students, buses left campus at 2:30. XLIS staff were leading different sessions for other staff members.
2. Start of ECAs
ECAs began on Thursday September 7th, 2023. Each ECA that we offer is structured to provide experiences designed to enrich the intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth of the students. Opportunities for learning and enrichment are prepared in accordance with students’ grade level and interests in mind. There are 42 ECAs in total for our students this semester.

4. Students Vision Check
Myopia or nearsightedness is a common vision problem that begins between the ages of 6 and 14. Prevention is the highest form of health care. The best way to take advantage of methods to control myopia is to detect it as early as possible. So, XLIS health centre invited the ophthalmology team from Xi’an No.1 hospital to conduct a vision check for all students, except those in ECE on September 13th and 14th ,2023.
5. Start of XLIS Sports Season
The first season of athletics for the XLIS Blue Dragons began in September. Students began playing games against other international schools in Xi’an as part of the Xi’an International Athletics Conference (XIAC). The following teams had their first games this month, and will continue playing until the end of October:

In September, we’ve invited our P1, P2, P5, and P6 parents stepping into classrooms to observe half day classes with students, to experience the normal school life at XLIS.
2. Parent Workshop

1. Parent Workshop (for MYP5)
Our M5 students have started their culminating project for the MYP which is the Personal Project.This is a long term task that needs a lot of self and time management. We invited parents to a workshop on the 14th September from 9:00-10:30am where we explained the requirements of this project and the challenges that your child might face. We also brainstormed on ways that parents could help their sons and daughters.
2. Annual College Fair at XLIS
To increase student awareness of the possibilities that exist after graduation, more than 20 college and university representatives traveled to XLIS for the annual College Fair taking place in the Blue Dragon Theater on Monday, Sep 25th, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This event was open to all students and families in XLIS as well as surrounding communities.
