Whole School Events
1. Start of ECAs – Thursday, September 9th
ECAs began on Thursday September 9th, 2021. Each ECA that we offer is structured to provide experiences designed to enrich the intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth of the students. Opportunities for learning and enrichment are prepared in accordance with students’ grade level and interests in mind. There are 28 ECAs in total for our students this semester.
2. PTA Core Members Meeting – Tuesday, September 14th
The first PTA Core Members Meeting of 2021-2022 academic year was held on September 14th at XLIS. The Senior Leadership Team of XLIS and PTA Core Members discussed issues regarding PTA General Elections, Primary and Secondary regular work, whole school September events, as well as campus safety and security.
3. U. N. International Day of Peace – Wednesday, September 15th
On Friday September 15th, XLIS celebrated the U.N. International Day of Peace and XLIS’ multi-cultural community. Due to current COVID 19 health regulations, this event was held internally along with students and their educators!
4. Student Eye-sight Examination Day – Thursday, September 23rd – Friday, September 24th
In order to detect and prevent myopia at an early stage, intervene in the progress of myopia in time to avoid high myopia from occurring, regular monitoring of students’ vision is the responsibility of the school and family.
According to the XLIS health service plan, we invited the ophthalmology team from Xi’an International Medical Centre Hospital, to inspect and examine all students (except ECE) Eye-sight.
Primary School Events
1. PYP Parents Coffee Morning – Tuesday, September 7th
Differentiation is an extremely important part of the literacy program at XLIS. Ms. Marly and Ms. Julia introduced how the Daily 5 provides students with choice as to how they are going to learn language.
2. Assemblies – Fridays
During the assemblies, students from different year-level actively displayed what they had been learning during their units of inquiry (UOI). They typically focused on a transdisciplinary theme and shared their knowledge pertaining to concepts, ATLs (Approaches to Learning), action, and made connections with the IB Learner Profile attributes.
3. Soccer Game XLIS VS Dehong Xi’an International Chinese School – Wednesday, September 29th
XLIS upper primary soccer team welcomed Dehong International School for our first game of the league. Out team played two back to back games against Dehong’s two teams. The first game reached a tie by 3:3 and our team beat Dehong 4 to 2 in the second game.
Secondary School Events
1. MYP & DP Parents Coffee Morning – Tuesday, September 7th
Ms. Daun Yorke and Ms. Jaimala introduced our programs and how parents can support their children with the transitions period and our upcoming DP 5 year evaluation visit.
