Dear XLIS Parents,
I am pleased to share the key updates from our first official PTA Monthly Community Meeting of the 2026–2027 academic year.
At XLIS, the PTA serves as our core, recurring home-school partnership platform. Each class has designated core parent representatives who attend monthly meetings on behalf of their grade community. In addition, all parents across the school are warmly welcome to join any PTA session voluntarily, participate in school-wide discussions, and contribute feedback. Our monthly PTA gatherings ensure transparent communication, collaborative problem-solving, and collective growth for our entire school community.
This month’s meeting brought together over forty parent representatives from diverse international backgrounds. With rich professional expertise in education, public relations, business, and marketing, our new and continuing PTA members share a unified commitment to strengthening student well-being, campus culture, and home-school synergy.
Below are the major community updates and forward plans confirmed in this session:
1. Revised School Communication Policy
A refined school-wide communication guideline has been officially released, standardizing respectful and consistent interactions among teachers, students, and parents. This updated version fully integrates feedback collected from all three stakeholder groups during orientation week. XLIS conducts a yearly policy review and update cycle. All ongoing suggestions and constructive input from our community will be carefully considered for next year’s official policy revision.
2. CCA Fee Structure Review
The school is currently reviewing its existing CCA fee structure as part of ongoing curriculum optimization and community improvement efforts.
3. International Day Celebration
2026-2027 XLIS International Day is officially scheduled for Saturday, September 19, with a weather-reserve backup date of Thursday, September 24. Dr. Fiaz will deliver the opening speech on behalf of the PTA community. We warmly encourage all students and parents to dress up with cultural elements, national costumes, or creative themed outfits. We are greatly looking forward to this vibrant, inclusive community celebration.
4. Boarding Host Family Program Launch
As our boarding community continues to expand, the school is launching a new Host Family Initiative for international boarding students during winter holiday breaks (Christmas & Chinese New Year). This program enriches boarders’ cross-cultural experience and builds deeper community connection. Qualified host families will receive complimentary dormitory stay benefits as official school recognition.

5. XLIS Blue Dragon School Culture Development
To strengthen our school identity and campus spirit, the PTA is advancing our Blue Dragon culture project:
• Increased mascot appearances during Sports Day, International Day, and whole-school assemblies. The school will order more official Blue Dragon merchandise for wider community use.
• We encourage collaborative story creation, inviting parents and students who are interested in develop our original XLIS Blue Dragon storybook. Please contact our BD Director Echo Zhao (echo.zhao@xalis.com) to learn more about the program.
• A whole-school Blue Dragon Spirit Day Assembly will take place on October 23 at 3:30 PM, officially kicking off our Literature and Culture Week and the upcoming ACAMIS Volleyball Tournament.
6. Campus Environment & Facility Inspection
During this PTA meeting, parent representatives divided into two inspection teams to conduct an on-site campus review.
• One group inspected the school canteen, kitchen facilities, and catering quality alongside our Logistics Director Leah Zhang.
• A second group toured the entire campus environment, sports facilities, and activity spaces with Zach Dywer, our Athletics and Activities Director.
The overall campus environment, safety standards, and facility upgrades received positive feedback from parent inspectors. Continuous improvement and regular parent-led campus supervision will remain part of our school’s quality assurance mechanism.
7. New Student-Led Campus TV Station
A student-initiated Campus TV CCA is newly proposed, empowering secondary students to produce campus news, interviews, and feature stories. Parents with media, broadcasting, video-editing, or production expertise are highly welcome to support and mentor our student team.
8. Campus Safety Discussion — Studded Soccer Cleats Regulation
Primary School leadership has introduced a new rule: students may not wear studded soccer cleats during the 30-minute lunch break. The raised studs on these shoes pose a risk of accidental injury to other students.
Few parent representatives hold differing views on this rule. They will share photos of studded soccer cleats in the PTA group for further community discussion, so everyone can evaluate the risks and finalize suitable campus guidelines.
