The Research and Exchange Conference Hosted by Xi’an Western Returned Scholars Association Successfully Held at Xi’an Liangjiatan International School
On the afternoon of November 8th, the research and exchange conference, titled “Welcoming Returning Talents to Promote Mutual Understanding and Foster Global Cooperation—Gaoxin’s International Education as the Foundation of Xi’an’s National ‘Dual-Centers’ Core Area,” was grandly held at Xi’an Liangjiatan International School. The conference was hosted by the Xi’an Western Returned Scholars Association and organized by XLIS. Leaders from the United Front Work Department of the Xi’an Municipal Party Committee and the Administrative Committee of High-tech Zone attended the event, along with more than a hundred representatives from Xi’an Western Returned Scholars Association, the Education and Sports Bureau of High-tech Zone, and the Silk Road Science City of the High-tech Zone.
Mr. Guo Xiaohui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Xi’an High-tech Zone, delivered the opening speech. Mr. Guo mentioned that this event brought together collegiate scholars, experts, researchers, and entrepreneurs. It is precisely this group of patriotic, ambitious top talents who have become the backbone of the development of the High-tech Zone. Meanwhile, Mr. Guo also addressed the elite representatives of overseas returnees attending the conference, saying, “Welcome, everyone, to gather innovative vitality for the development of science and technology, education, and industries in the High-tech Zone and lead the High-tech zone to prosperous economic development through the formation of a ‘talent magnet.’
Mr. Zhang Shaochun, Executive Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Xi’an Municipal Party Committee, delivered an important speech. Mr. Zhang stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s remarks in the congratulatory letter to the 110th founding anniversary of the Western Returned Scholars Association were far-sighted, rich in content, and inspiring, fully affirming the positive contributions made by the Western Returned Scholars Association. President Xi Jinping profoundly elucidated its mission and tasks and expressed earnest expectations for overseas Chinese students. The letter also injected strong impetus and provided fundamental guidance for further improving the work of overseas students in the new journey. Xi’an Western Returned Scholars Association should quickly promote a learning and publicity campaign, strengthen ideological guidance, accelerate the role played, and enhance organizational construction, uniting overseas students around the CPC.
Subsequently, Mr. Shan Zhiwei, President of Xi’an Western Returned Scholars Association, led more than a hundred participants to study the spirit of President Xi’s congratulatory letter to the 110th founding anniversary of the Western Returned Scholars Association. Mr. Shan emphasized that in the new journey, the Western Returned Scholars Association should enhance its political, advanced, and mass features, calling on the association to continue to play its role as a talent pool in serving the country, a think tank of good ideas and proposals, and a vital force in people-to-people diplomacy. Also, it should strengthen ideological guidance and organizational construction, rallying talent from around the world and pooling strengths of creativity for the development of the cause of the Party and the country. He also expressed hope that overseas Chinese students and scholars would carry forward their patriotic tradition, serve the people, stay confident, break new ground and forge ahead, and maintain an open and inclusive mind to promote the exchanges and mutual learning between China and other countries, writing a great chapter of the whole life through promoting the building of a strong country and the great cause of national rejuvenation. After the study session, all participants went to the exhibition hall of the Silk Road Science City in the High-tech Zone for field research. As the core area of the “Dual Centers,” the Silk Road Science City adheres to national major scientific and technological strategic goals, systematically deploying major scientific infrastructure and creating high-level innovation platforms. It is not only the most prestigious “certificate of honor” for scientific and technological innovation in Xi’an but also the best proof of the High-tech Zone’s accelerated realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and the assistance of building a strong country in science and technology. During the visit, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as innovation and entrepreneurship.
Through the exchange, the members of the Xi’an Western Returned Scholars Association were greatly inspired and motivated. They expressed their determination to implement the spirit of Xi’s congratulatory letter in future work and pledged to contribute to the construction of the core area of the “Dual Centers,” the building of a new highland for inland reform and opening up, and the development of education, science and technology, and talent in Shaanxi Province through practical actions.
