Early Release PD
During this professional development session teachers will learn how to proctor MAP assessment. MAP stands for Measure of Academic Progress. It is a new testing system which XLIS will be introducing for all students from P3-M4. This will give our community data compared to an international norm as well as providing teachers with data on how to improve instruction.

Thursday, 5th September
Start of ECAs
XLIS is proud to announce the start of the ECA program for the first semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year! Buses will depart from the school at 4:40 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as of Thursday the 5th of September. Please be on the look out for the official announcement and registration information coming out soon! We hope to continue to enrich your children’s learning experience and personal development with a truly exciting and diverse extra-curricular program!

Mid Autumn Holiday
Our school’s Mid Autumn Festival Holiday is observed from the 16th September to the 17th of September, 2024. We kindly remind you there is no school during these dates. School will begin again on Wednesday the 18th of September, 2024.

International Day of Peace
The International Day of Peace at XLIS marks the first relevant gathering of our broader community and aims to explore the concepts of multiculturalism, open-mindedness, and mutual understanding. This year’s theme is “cultivating a culture of peace” will unite us once more as we celebrate and learn about our rich cultures, on Saturday September the 21st, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. International tents, a variety of performances, and visual arts activities will be designed for all to enjoy. Please be on the lookout for the official announcement to find out how you can support this marvelous event!

The September PTA Monthly Meeting for 2024-2025 academic year schedules on September 24th, all PTA members are invited to participate, main agendas will be shared out soon.

Our school’s National Day Holiday is observed from the 28th September to the 6th of October, 2024. We kindly remind you there is no school during these dates. School will begin again on Monday the 7th of October, 2024.

Assemblies
Each Friday one of our homeroom classes has the opportunity to showcase what they have been learning! This is a student-led event that is supported by the teachers. The parents of the class that is presenting will be invited to join the audience.
The first class assembly for a primary class will be on Friday, September 27th for P6C.

Parent Open Day
Parents from P1 to P6 will be invited to join the Open Day in September according to following schedule to experience the daily school life our students have on campus. Each grade parents will all have the access to the Open Day at different time, we’ll send out invitation to different year-level parents one week in advance.

Secondary Parent Workshop
On the 11th of September, the Secondary school language teachers and the Secondary Principal will run a workshop on ‘Learning languages in the IB’. The focus will be on how students can improve a variety of skills to be bilingually proficient. The workshop will be an attempt to answer some of the questions that parents have on how students are placed in phases in acquiring a language and movement across phases. There will be emphasis on how first language learning allows students to make deep cultural connections.
